Brother MFCJ870DW Cuts Off/Chops Off/Truncates Left Side Return Address By About Half An Inch On #10 Com Envelope, Suddenly Started Happening

Check carefully that you have specified it to use the # 10 and that the format does not include a wide margin. If that fails, try printing the Return address 'right justified' and see what happens.

I am a teacher. We have Dell computers with windows 7 on them. Recently our school district downloaded Microsoft Office 10. Since the new microsoft office, my xerox phaser 8500 is printing strange. ...

Hi fsaltzman,

You need to check the margin settings in the print preview option, make sure you decrease the margins that are set by default and try printing a test page , this should work fine.

On the File menu, you need to click Page Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
Here you can adjust the margins as per your convenience.

To View page margins :-
  1. You need to go on the Tools menu, select Options, and then select the View tab.
  2. Under Print and Web Layout options, select the Text boundaries check box.

The page margins appear in your document as dotted lines.

You can use these dotted lines to correct your margins so that your student's assignments are not cut off and there is no large margin as you have mentioned in your question.

You can view page margins in either Print Layout or Web Layout view only, and they do not appear on the printed page.

Hope this helps

The printer will print OK from the desktop, but when I print from emails it cuts the right margin back about 2" - nothing will print on the right hand side of the page. I tried dumping the driver program...

Dear Glenn27,
As you mentioned, printer works fine normally however the issue is only while printing emails.. so I would like to know the email program that is in use .. I mean, do you use Outlook, Outlook Express or webmail or Lotus notes etc..
If this is a repeated question then I would like to apologies as we experts are not allowed to peep into other experts' solutions so I cannot see the responses by the previous expert.

Also please let me know the following printer settings ..
AUTO WRAP, RIGHT MARGIN, LEFT MARGIN,

What happens when you copy the email text to a standard text editor like Notepad or Ms Word and then try printing .. does it still print with right margin extended?

Waiting for your response.

Srinivas

Printer does not print whole document

In 'Print Preview' look at the margins, and see if anything is too close to the edge of the paper. If it is, then set your margins further from the edge, or drag graphics further from the edge, etc.

To correct the margins that are set to close to the edge of the paper, open the document in Microsoft Word and follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that you are using the same printer driver that gave you the error in Microsoft Word Viewer.
  2. In Word, on the File menu, click Page Setup.
  3. Click OK.

You receive a warning dialog box about the unprintable regions.
  4. Click the Fix button.
  5. Save and close the document.
You can now open and print the document in Word Viewer without receiving the error message.

E-mails won't print the last few words on the right side.

Your margins need to be adjusted. Do a print preview. You should see the margins. Click on the right hand margin and drag it over to the right until the rest of your document shows up on the screen. If you print it then it should be fine.

Printing in my e-mail message from someone it only prints half of it. Also it cuts of on the right side.

These are general things you should consider in a checklist fashion when trying to troubleshoot problems printing documents from certain applications. I have no specific information for your specific printer and the behavior you are observing.

Things to check to ensure proper printing:

1) Make sure that you have installed the LATEST driver software for your printer (you can get drivers online from the HP web site. Make sure it is working properly by printing a test page, if you have not done so yet.

2) Does your email software have a print preview? Make sure that the printer selected in your email software is the HP printer, then do the preview. How does it look? If you see your problem in the preview, then you need to do something in the software. Set the printing to be in default font style and size, as well as page margins.

3) When you print, does your printer report an error message that could indicate why it printed it only on the part of the text, and why it was cut-off on the right side. Check page orientation (portrait vs. landscape). In Windows systems, the print dialog windows also contain options for adjusting the page content to fit the page (auto-zooms, etc). Look at these options carefully.

If you have additional information to add after going through these checks, then do it.

Envelope margin error

have you adjusted the page setup on your software?
I'm assuming you're using Word to print a mail merge. yes?

Check that the margins are setup properly in the "word document"
Go undetr file, page setup, and confirm the envelope size is set properly.
Check the page setup in the printing preferences.
File, Print, Printing Preferences.

The printer accepts whatever margins microsoft word tells it to use.

Best wishes

HELP

You may need to adjust your margins so that the bottom border shows. In other words, go to file> page layout>margins and adjust the bottom margin to a lower number, the check print preview.

If that does not work, try checking the border settings. Perhaps line weight has been set to 0 or color has been set to white or no color for the bottom, causing it to be invisible.
