There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

TV Sharp LC-40LE830U. My front panel ys disabled and my remote control don't work. I can power on/off only. How can I enable my front panel without use remote control? or reset factory settings?

If both your front panel and remote control are disabled, the best option would be to perform a factory reset to restore the TV to its original settings.
To reset the Sharp LC-40LE830U to factory settings:
  1. Unplug the TV from the power outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 5 seconds while the TV is still unplugged.
  3. Plug the TV back in and turn it on using the power button on the TV itself.
  4. Once the TV is turned on, press and hold the "input" and "volume down" buttons on the TV simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  5. The TV will then enter the service mode menu.
  6. Press the "menu" button on the remote control to navigate through the menu and select "option."
  7. Select "factory reset" from the options menu and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
Note: The factory reset will erase all custom settings, including parental controls, picture, and audio settings.

How do I reset the 52" TV to original settings. Screen is on Widescreen permanently

Could you please post exact model of your sharp tv. however i will give you this generic solution. In order to do this, you'll need to have your remote handy. You cannot reset the television using the control panel.
  • Turn your Sharp television on. Press the "Menu" button on your remote control. Press the "Right" arrow until you see "Setup."

  • 2

Press the "Down" arrow until you see "Reset" displayed under the Setup menu. Press "Enter."

  • 3

Type your secret four-digit code using the remote keypad. If you do not know it, you'll need to reset it by following the process in the section "Resetting the Parental Control Password." After you type in the code, "Reset to Factory Preset Values" will appear on the screen.

  • 4

Press the "Right" arrow to select "Yes" then press "Enter." The screen will show "Now TV Will Restart." Press the "Right" arrow then press "Enter." Wait for the television to reset and revert to the factory default settings.

Magnavox tv not responding to remotes

I came accross this question, because I've been looking for the remote code for my cable remote. I had originally put the TV remote somewhere in a box when I was moving years ago, Since my cable remote changes the channel, I've been doing the same as you all this time. Therefore, I totally understand your frustration on trying to understanding how to navigate within the menu: It's not what you would think would be a standard or logical way....

Anyway, in my research, I did come accross the TV manual, and I found the instruction on how to reset the TV. I tried the steps, and THEY"RE STILL confusing, so I've added my own hints....hope this helps:

Your TV can be reset to the factory settings in case you forget your Smart Lock password, or want to change the picture, sound, or features settings.

1 Press the MENU button on the remote control to see the onscreen menu.

In the left panel, you will see four icons (from top to bottom)

    • TV INSTALL (a tv)
    • PICTURE (icon of film)
    • SOUND (a piano)
    • FEATURES (icon of pliers and a hammer)

When the Menu screen is showing the left panel as highlighted light grey, the Chanel buttons have Page up/Page down Functionality

2 Press the the (CH UP) or_(CH DN) buttons to highlight the FEATURES menu.

Navigate to the FEAUTRES menu (icon of pliers and a hammer - bottom of left panel) and you should make sure it is highlighted in blue

3 Press the (VOL+) button to enter into the FEATURES menu.

The right panel should now be highlighted in a light grey

4 Press the (CH UP) or (CH DN) buttons to highlight the FACTORY SETTINGS control.

This will select items in the right panel, FACTORY SETTINGS in on the bottom

5 Press the the _(VOL+) or _(VOL-) buttons to reset the TV to the original factory settings.

6 Press the MENU button repeatedly to clear the menu from the screen.

    Reset older analog tv

    Hi,

Without the original remote, sorry none. You could try pressing on any of the buttons or a combination while plugging in the unit but that is no guarantee it will reset (fully). With your indulgence, I took the liberty of checking your other posts here and here. It would seem that your original concern is that although the TV would appear to be switching to the lower channels (Ch 2-6), the TV programs on those channels would not be displayed. If yes, then I am inclined to think that there is a hardware fault internal to the TV. This would be the tuner block. The reset, even if successful, would not correct this error.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Basically all it takes to restore the TV to factory setting is to unplug the TV from power and all connecting cables for about 3-5 hours (depending upon your model). This is called a Hard Reset and should restore the TV back to factory defaults.
