Why would food in the refrigerator side freeze?

I made sure all the vents are clear and the freezer side vents aren't blocked either. I tried adjusting the temperature thinking I had the freezer set too cold, but that didn't remedy the situation. Everything I try to put on the shelves freezes.

Is the Fan running in the freezer section? if not all the cold air sinks to the bottom? else probably your Damper unit! In the fridge section is a hit and miss type vent using a motor to open and close via PCB temp sensor!

What do I do,my Samsung freezer is working but not the refrigerator which is not cooling, how much should the setting be on both

The normal setting for freezer and fresh food side is 5. A very common cause of loss of cooling in the fresh food side is the vent are blocked for cool air exchange from the freezer. Find the two vents to and from the freezer to fresh food side and make sure they are not blocked. Most problems can be solved by decluttering freezer and fresh food side.
Next check to see if the evaporator fan is running. This fan provides the push for air circulation through the vent dampers in this type of refrigerator.
If this does not fix the problem and is still under warranty, call the 800 number and pay the small service fee and get a professional to analyze and determine which part is not working.
Hope this helps.

What if refrigerator section isn't cold but freezer side is freezing? It is a side by side Frigidaire.

Hey friend, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling within the fresh food side but cooling in the freezer. I would check to assure that the vent assembly is not blocked by any food, if so remove the food and allow your refrigerator to cool down.

If there is no food blocking the vent place your hand in the fresh food side to see if any air is moving out of the damper. If you do not feel air coming out it could be an issue with your evaporator fan. Additionally we should check to make sure the gaskets are not bad. You can do that by using a dollar bill. Place the bill between the body of the fresh food and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing it. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then replace the gasket. I hope this information has been helpful. - Matt

My fridge keeps freezing food

Hi Karen, this is JK. I hate to hear that you are having concerns with your refrigerator freezing. There could be various reasons why this is happening. There could be a faulty defrost thermostat or the vent from the freezer has been blocked and is forcing air into the refrigeration section. If we may suggest checking to make sure that items in the freezer are clear from the vents or walls in the freezer. If this is not an issue, it may be more of a technical issue and a Professional Service Provider would be able to better diagnose the issue. Hope this helps!

Top shelves in freezer not freezing food. Also no ice from ice maker. Seems cold air has stopped coming out of top vent

We had the same problem with our refrigerator just yesterday. Defrosting (even tho frost-free) cleared up the airflow problem-- If it's frost-free, when it defrosts enough to allow air flow, the automatic defrost can take over. Cause was stored food blocking the vent between the freezer and lower part of fridge.

Not cooling ,food in freezer is defrosted not all of it thou,

Is there food near any of the vents? if ther is then you have to make sure that all of the food near the vents is clear and there is not a solid block of ice behind the racks in the freezer neer the coils.

My fridge keeps freezing my food

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.
