SOURCE: Olympus FE-210 lens does not come out

Hey memiche,
You could try resetting the camera to the default factory settings, and directions on how to do this are on page 20 of your camera manual. If this doesn't work then there is either something obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand), or damage to the lens mechanism. If it is something obstructing the movement of the lens you could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever is in there. If that doesn't fix the problem you could try putting the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointing up and holding in the shutter button, and while doing that turn the camera on. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you need it. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: FE-170 - Lens extends & retracts 3 times when powered on.

appears to be power issue in the camera but you can try the lithium AA batteries that are located in the photo section of your stores... they are more powerful than regular AA batteries or else send to repair shop

SOURCE: the lens won't retract

If the lens is stuck out extended you may want to call Olympus Customer Service to discuss repair process and pricing. If the battery is fully charged and the lens still stays extended then this is a clear repair issue as something in the lens assembly has failed. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3

SOURCE: Camera malfunction

I had a Nikon Coolpix L1 with a very similar fault- the lens would whirr in and out as if seeking then lock either in or out with a 'lens error' message.
Not sure you're going to like the solution: place a paperback book on a strong table, grasp your precious camera firmly in one hand and slam its flat base down as hard as you dare onto the book. Hold it hard to the book as it touches, don't hit and lift up again; more slam effect.
I tried this and it worked beautifully; for a few months. I had to do it once or twice a year.
I got the suggestion from a site similar to this with 10 or so astonished owners who had tried it and couldn't believe it had worked so well!

Aren't digital cameras ****, though? I may go back to 2nd hand 35mm SLR for something that actually works!

SOURCE: My Olmpus fe-360 wont turn on. The lens won't

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Lens wont go in power button wont lite or come on and screen display nothing what is happen to my fe 210 olympus camera

I have the same camera! But my display is broken. :( But it still works. Try plugging in the external video cable to see if you can see the display on your TV.
Make sure the battery is fully charged. If the battery is no longer holding a charge, replace it or use the appropriate AC adapter to power the camera.
Also, remove the memory card if you are using one in you camera.
After you put a freshly charged battery in or plug in the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for at least 3 full seconds. The lens should extend fully. If it doesn't, press the playback [>] button on the back (this should make the lens retract). Then press the power button to shut the camera off. Press the power button again to power it back up and the lens should extend out as normal. You should be OK.
If not, let me know and I'll see what else I can dig up.
The last thing you can try is updating the Firmware. Below is a link to the Firmware update for this camera. Since I don't know what OS you're using, just pick your Operating System and follow the instructions on the pages that follow the link you chose.

My Olmpus fe-360 wont turn on the lens won't retract and it beeps when I try to turn it on

The lens is jammed, which means a gear is stripped or damaged, or jammed in the lens assembly, and the electronic "brain" is turning it off, since it's not in the right position (retracted). This can be caused by the camera getting bumped while the lens was out, dust, dirt, or sand can get in the lens through the front of the camera and jam it, or the batteries could be weak. After you make sure your batteries are good, and it still isn't working, go to this web page and try their suggestions. They report about 1/2 of the cameras with a lens problem can be fixed trying their suggestions. If that doesn't work, don't have it serviced- you can buy a better new camera than what you would pay a service shop.

The page says "lens error" messages, but it also applies to your problem.

Camera does not start up until after several

If you are sure that your battery if fully charged but still does not do any good, then do this little trick:

1. Hold the camera on your right hand with the lens facing the ground.

2. As you press the power on button, tap or hit the camera's base to your left palm. Do this several times.

Chances are, there could be a sand or granule of dust that got stuck on the sides of the lens, preventing it to retract properly.

Hope this helps.

I have an Olympus FE-360 digital camera, sometimes when I turn it on the lens will pop out and the screen on the back will not come on. What can I do to fix this problem.

Olympus FE-170 6.0 will not take pictures.

I had the same exact problem. The lens is not extending out fully or correctly, probably has broken or damaged gear or gears and needs to be replaced. Expensive repair done by Olympus. It is a very tricky and fragile repair on your own, requiring micro screwdrivers and soldering tool. I replaced my own lens but it was hard to find one.
