SOURCE: Lens won't extend

Chances are that you got some dirt in to the mechanism of the lens. Try getting a piece of paper, fold it if its too thin, insert it GENTLY between the lens and the body, and move it slowely all the way around. You may dislodge the piece o dirt that is holding it back. If that does work you can try resorting to simple checking which way the lens turns when it opens up, and try and force it to turn a bit more beyond the point it gets stuck. Sometimes the gears get hit and you need to just force it back.

When the camera is turned on the shutter won't open all the way.

If you mean the lens (the barrel that's supposed to extend from the body), try these procedures.

I have a sony cyber-shot dsc-w35 cameral. when i push

Short answer. No.
If it's like other Sony cameras I've seen there is a worm gear internally which extends the lens. A single grain of sand or dust caught in that gear will prevent the smooth motion of the lens assembly. When you manually pull it with a razor blade you are providing enough force to "jump" the dust or sand and allowing the lens to fully extend. If you're lucky you may dislodge the dust after doing this several times in which case it will last a lot longer. This has actually happened to me with a Sony camera (Just not this model). You can also use compressed air (Dustoff or Dust-Away) to blow on the lens assembly while it is extending or retracting.

If it absolutely won't work anymore and you have nothing to lose, just open it up with a screwdriver and try to clean it. You can likely buy an entire lens assembly and replace it if necessary however this is not for the feint of heart and I would say you might as well just buy a new one.

One camera I had I pried the lens open three times (Just like you did) and it never happened again. Like I said, you may get lucky but the actual repair is expensive and/or time consuming.

I have a vpc-E1500tp and it won't turn on and it won't charge... What do I do?

Lens is not all the way extended, so you can not turn it on. the defect maybe fixed buy pushing on the power button and pull the lens out gently by wiggling the lens? It may all be futile. Buy a new camera.

Lens won't open

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

You should try to get that stupid person to buy you a new camera if the following doesn't help. Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism.
