Dies in reverse and runs great chocked

I have a 1982 35 hp Evinrude that has very low hours and all of a sudden this season it wants to die when shifted into reverse and the top end is gone too. Fresh gas and oil ,winterized every year since new. I would have to say there are maybe only 80 hours total on this outboard. Had it out tonight and it runs fine when choked, but stumbles when I unchoke it. Any help where to start????????????????

60 hp evinrude tracker motor. good compression does great under throtal but dies below 1100 rpm. Cleaned carbs but didnt

Check the spark at low RPMs. You may have a bad Powerpack.

A few possibilities to check:

1. The chock is stuck on. Pull the air cleaner while running and see if the chock is closing off part of the throttle.

2. Check the OHV valve settings, could be the tolerance is too tight.

Fuel pressure regulator diaphragm may have split. Remove the cover plate on the throttle body and inspect the diaphagm for damage. See part 2 at link below. The tbi pics are around the middle of the page.

1964 5 1/2 hp evinrude kills at high speed

You should have a High Speed carb adjust and a Low Speed carb adjust. If it's running fine while idling, adjust the high speed setting. If you have two nobs, its the lower one. May be set wrong. If you don't have two nobs, remove the carburator and check the jets to make sure they are completely clean or better yet, order yourself a carb rebuild kit to take care of all of this. I just rebuilt my 1971 evinrude 4hp and the carb kit made the world of difference.
