If you want to buy a phone on a well trusted site try amazon!!!
Best advice from mark
Take a huge tip from me, don't buy any devices from strangers on Craigslist. Been there, done that!
You may wind up with a hot phone, a phone that is carrier locked, basically a paperweight, that you will not be able to use.
Not money well spent, you will wind up seriously regretting it.
Thanks Mark. I do hear horror stories about craigslist. For the sake of argument, let's say I am buying off eBay or similar marketplace, how would I identify an infected phone?
It's not so much about the device being infected, because you can always perform a factory reset which will bring it back to its original out of the box state. The problem is there are a lot of people selling stolen phones. I went through this myself once, purchased an Xperia Z from a hock shop, turned out it was carrier locked, the original owner did not pay his bills for over 6 months. Let's just say I had to "convince" the owner of the hock shop to refund me.
If I were you, wait until your current contract ends, then perform an upgrade to a "New" device, this way you know what you are getting.
