I suggest you use more than one disc for testing. I have a film on dvd that seems to work on all machines except mine. There is good video but no sound. Other discs are fine.
My friend had no audio from her new dvd player. The instructions didn't help but mindlessly (almost) pressing buttons from desperation suddenly revealed an extensive audio menu and after some trial and error good audio was suddenly apparent.
If it has a scart it would be a good idea to use it at least initially because if there is audio being output from the dvd player it should send it straight into the heart of the tv and switching is automatic.
I could not find one anywhere. I finally tried the power cord from my Craig soundbar model# CHT923 and it works fine. It is probably easier to find this power adapter.
Try attaching to another source and if it works, the problem is not the bar. If it fails, then your bar may have a bad circuit board. This can happen from a power surge or brown-out.
