Check the cables in the back of it. If tou already did that how old is it? If relativly new might want to check possibility of wires in back getting wet. If none of those and you have a removable face the connectors between the base and the face are crapping out. Try getting a new face.
Check your wires to make sure they're not crossed. follow them all the way back to the radio if you have to. when it comes to subs, you have to get it right with how you connect your possitive and negative especially coming out of the amp. if you have rca's connected from the radio to the amp, then check the output to your subs from the amp to the subs, make sure theyre wired correctly. if you used your stereo wires for input to your amp, then make sure those wires are positive with positive and negative with negative. also make sure you have them hooked up to rear output only. don't use one rear and one front.
i don't think it will blow the unit if swapped...both of them should have power (~positive 12volts)...in the red wire power is supposed to cut off when you turn the ignition key to off...and the yellow wire is supposed to have power constantly(memory)
did u check the fuse in the back of the radio?did you check the radio fuse in your car? Do you have the yellow battery memory wire hooked up? Is the black ground wire connected
