Shark products don't have serial numbers. They are meant to be disposable therefore have no need for serial numbers. Shark doesn't even have a parts dept.

Look for a label (possibly a silver-colored label with black print) along the side (left or right side) of the main body of the vacuum / collection container.

Hey Danielle, sorry to hear about the fire. The serial number is located on a white sticker on the bottom of your ProHeat machine.

The Singer UK site has a web site on the history of the company. This includes a list of when and where the machines were made based on their serial numbers. Start at http://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/vintage-sewing-machine-serial-number-list/ and scroll to the bottom of the page for the links for serial numbers that start with 1 or 2 letters.

The F9620856 was built in 1920 and EB976045 was built in 1939. Both were manufactured in Clydebank, Scotland.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. You can contact the local factory authorized Hoover dealer in your area and they might have a good used part or they may have a new one in stock or they can order it for you if you give them the brand name and model #, serial # or choice #2 is that you can contact the Hoover Factory Parts Dept and they can ship you out one recovery tank front panel for the Hoover Carpet Clean F5853-900 Series 17.9 and serial number #069700345408.
