How to fix an intermittent white screen on a Samsung television?
The picture on my in-law's tv recently became solarized. Upon consultation with Google, it appeared that the t-con board needed to be replaced. Had the board repaired at ShopJimmy. Reinstalled the board and the picture was normal, no solarization. However, every 3-5 seconds, the entire screen goes white for approximately one second. No image can be seen when the screen goes white. After the white screen, the picture comes back perfectly. Then, after a few seconds, the white screen returns. The audio works fine during the time the screen is white. It appears that the repair to the T-con board fixed the solarization issue, but there is another underlying issue causing the intermittent white screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Andy there are usually two inverter/backlight boards (usually on each side of the TV ) (inside the back cover). Most have Ribbon cables attached and lead to the screen. might try those. most of the T-con , inverter boards cost nearly the same.(according to the make and model of TV u have) even at $35 each it is still better that buying new TV .
You have a very Technical problem with this TV.
you may have 2 big problems, ballast and dmd.
but it could be something else. If you decide to repair it, honestly you will spend more than 300dlls on it, if you like to, go to fixyourdlp.com
The speed of the color wheel needs to adjusted or the CCA values. Both are found in the service menu . If you paid a company to fix the TV, call them and tell them that they forgot to perform these alignments. If you did the repair yourself, you'll have to call around for a price to have a Samsung service center perform these adjustments. I don't recommend consumers access the service menus of modern TVs because one wrong button push and you may cause irrepairable changes to the TV's proper operation.
The white line is result of a Vertical failure. Believe it or not, the whole picture is contained in that one white line, but it is not spread out from top to bottom on the screen.
Usually, a vertical failure is IC or capacitor related. Should be an easy, fairly inexpensive fix for a competent repair shop.
If this set is still within the warranty period, return it for warranty service. Since this is an intermittant problem, I would request an exchange. If they won't exchange the set (even after going up the chain of management), provide specifics about the problem. State up front that this is an intermittant problem. Once reported, the warranty kicks in even if the problem doesn't become hard and fast until after the warranty has expired since the initial report occurred before the warranty expiration. This is not a problem caused by external devices.
