Are the stripes like pixely (sharp stripes) or blurry (from background)?
You might have damaged the edge of the screen where the connections are and broke connections. These types of problems are impossible to fix. You need replacement panel witch can cost a lot. Cheaper is to buy new model. You can re-sell the screen motherboard, PSU as those are sometimes valued replacement parts for screens that have working panel but broken circuits.
Another tip for you is to find a exact same screen with broken circuits and replace those. I have found myself broken screens just for cents.
No, the backlight comes already installed with the screen. The only other thing that that you may have to replace (and i doubt it) could be the LCD inverter, but that is not part of the screen but rather the part which provides power to the screen so it will light up.

Yes, you have damaged the screen. The screen is an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). That "ink" you see is the liquid inside the screen that has been released due to damage. You can try to replace the screen, but that will be costly. You will have to find a new screen and then have someone replace it for you (if you are not a technician). this can add up to the price of a new DS. I wouldnt try to fix the DS, I would recommend purchasing either a used or new one.

Basically any damage occurs on the screen itself, the screen can only be replace as a fix. There is no way a damaged screen because it like glass. Replacement screen part would cost more than the TV is worth. It's cheaper to buy a new TV at this point.
