I have a suzuki 150 dts outboard..in the past i replaced the left bank coolant level/flow sensor which fixed that problem....now after a tourn. i have a flow sensor light flashing and quieter alarm..this light is under the larger coolant light/alarm...is this for oil flow? it did seem like it was smoking a bit when i trailered it...the engine may have over reved,but for very short period...possible reed damage?

    i am an auto mech (for way too long) is the alarm i'm talking about an oil flow sensor,is there separate ones for each bank like the coolant level ones?

    if there is reed damage,what kind of damage could this cause,cause the motor still ran fine...what caused this problem is i raised the motor to high so she wouldnt get up on plane..as the boat almost reached plane the prop would cavitate causing the eng to rev,almost like prop slippage,but it's not that..

    i have great water coming out of the engine...

    it still runs fine...not overheating

    i'll have to find the sensor and try inplugging it..

    and i dont know if it's an oil flow light or not....it has four total 'flow' lights...two larger ones on top and two smaller ones on the bottom. the r/s bottom one is the one flickering with a queiter alarm than the larger one...and in the middle of the guage is two led bars which light up green....

    .if i could find a picture of it or a manual somewhere,it would point me in the right direction

Well lets see your saying oil flow sensor so it must be a four stroke engine four stroke engines are not reed enducted so the reeds would be out they only have one sensor for the oil per bank it might also be a water flow unless u have a gauge is the boat running bad or getting hot is the buzzer still going off? a couple things u neeeed to check make sure u have good water preasure first then find the oil flow sensor and unplug it buzzer should go off make sure the engine is not gettin hot you should be able to touch the water jackets (heads) with your hands and not be to hot if u have good water preasure do nont hook up to hose fitting on thee engine go old scholl and use water muffs on the lower unit that will give u a acurate reading on flow becuase the impellar has to pull it up if that doesnt fix it let me know thank you thomas

Hi mongo,

looking at a possible reed damage, the effect do not reflect the same manner but the error you have is all pointing to the oil / air / gas going to the block before combustion. you may have this checked by a mechanic to completely decipher the issue for repair.

hope this gives you an idea, as the service manual has the meaning the the fix for the error.

I have 99 bmw 323i.i ran it hot and got prob fixed and now the eml and a triangle with circle around it comes on dash and car has no power.feels like it has a rev limiter.wats wrong with my car

Coolant boiling in resevoir.

It can be faulty coolant temperature sensor.Its not sensing exact coolant heat temperature so its overheating then required level.

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.


Pressure test will help you to know from where exactly coolant/refrigerant is getting leaked.

Gs300 coolant is bubbling in resevoir,but temp is fine ?

Get coolant temp sensor checked.

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.

I have a problem on my chevrolet the check engine light on and the code is p0010 p0128 and p0641 thank you.

Causes A code P0010 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty oil control valve (OCV)
  • Open or short in the VVT/VCT circuit
  • Open or short in the OCV / solenoid valve
  • Damaged computer (PCM)
Possible Solutions Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are:
  • Carefully inspect the Bank 1 VVT/VCT system circuit wiring and connectors, repair as required
  • With a warm engine, test the operation of the OCV, replace/repair as needed

A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
  • Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
  • Faulty coolant temperature sensor ECT
  • Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
Possible Solutions Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. However here are some suggestions on troubleshooting and repairing a P0128 OBD-II code:
  • Verify coolant strength & level
  • Verify proper cooling fan operation (check if it's running more than it should). Replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper intake air temperature (IAT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • If the above items check out good, replace the thermostat
P0641 is a generic code for a possible bad ECU. I would first fix the other two issues and then clear the check engine light and see if it comes back on. If it does, then you have a possible bad ECU and will need to run further tests to see if that is the case or not

Engine coolant light turns on but no aparant reasons why engine coolant level ok rad was flushed 2 months ago coolant temp gauge doesnt go past half way hot and cold air availabe in the cab

the coolant level sensor is malfunctioning. this should be either on the resevoir or screwed into the side of the radiator. inspect to see if there is one in the resevoir. if so, disconnect it and turn the vehicle on to see if the light goes out. if so replace it. if it is in the radiator, replace it. ther eare no "fixes" for these items.

My 1997 olds aurora doesnt overheat while idiling just while driving says low coolant ive changed thermosat hoses what could this be

The coolant level sensor in the coolnat reservior is shorted out . The coolant level when driving is circulating fine . The coolant must be going just past the sensor and triggering it off.
