Static noise I've had these phones for a long time and has worked well. However, all of a sudden I hear static noise on all of the handsets whether I'm dialing or receiving calls. Is it possible to get rid of the static noise short of replacing the units?

Check your phone line or have it checked by your phone company. Three phones do not all go bad at the same time, do they?! Of course not!
Hook up another phone and see if it also does the same thing. If so definitely the line. If not, then it is the base unit of the three some that has an issue.
Do you have other phones on the same line?
Are they clear or do they have the static. If it is a telephone company old copper line and it happens on all phones it maybe a Telco problem.
Do you even hear white noise? If not, it sounds like your phone's speakers may be broken, or it has water damage. If your landline is connected to more phones, ask yourself these questions:
Do all of the phones have this problem? If so, it's a problem with your connection, not the speaker.
Is there a volume button anywhere on the phone or the base? Try turning it up.
Do my phones make a "beep" noise when i push the buttons? If not, did they used to? If they don't, then it's likely that the speaker is no longer working properly.
You may need to contact panasonic and see if they will replace it for you.

My phone is making a lot of noise and static on in coming call so bad I can't talk. out going I can't make. I put in the number to dial call does not go through ,but I can hear the dial tone. do I need a new battery or is there something wrong with the phone itself.
The line that stays lit for line 2 is just the way it is.. not a problem. If you only have one phone line and a two line phone you will always have the one (non working line 2 ) lit.
Have you replaced the cord to the handset? Many times it is a bad cord that causes static.
Perform a reset on the headset. Hold down the mute button (the dial on the back of the headset needs to be pushed straight in), and at the same time hold down the call answer button until you see the green light on the headset blink a few times. Release both the mute button and the call answer button. See if it works now. If it doesn't, try a re-subscription (should be available in the manual).
Your phone must be away from other appliances (i.e. microwaves, radios) and computer equipment (i.e. wireless routers, monitors). The phone runs on 2.4GHz which often conflicts with them.
