sounds like the backlite for your monitor needs to be replaced. (like the lightbulb went bad) These can be replaced usually, for under 100 dollars.

there are specific vaio notebook models where the keyboards cannot be easily replaced. that is the reason why their parts department do not sell keyboard parts. if that is the case, what you can do is to call sony to set up a repair for keyboard replacement or go to sony.com/repair if you want to process the repair online
