Glass is broken. How do I replace the glass

HP does not sell the glass part for this scanner separately. Therefore replacing it yourself or having it repaired it not possible.
You will need to purchase a new scanner - the same one is available at www.dolphininc.net for $195.

Canon scanner lide90glass is broken where can i buy a replacement

I suggest you to replace complete scanner instead of purchasing a glass, bcoz this will cost you more, and more over less possiblities that it will work.

Broken scanner glass

You can go thru Xerox possibly but they would probably have you send it in and charge you outrageously.

If you knew how to take apart the scanner I would suggest taking a tape measure and measure the exact size of the glass and then maybe go to a glass place and have them cut one to size for you.

Not sure what the costs would be but if this scanner is one of those where you like it alot and can't do without it then at least this could be an option and you can then put the new glass in and put the scanner back together.

I know this might seem weird but at least its worth a shot and maybe getting a piece of glass is less expensive then sending it in to xerox to get serviced.

Hi My Canoscan 9950f flatbed scanner glass has been smashed........ Is that the end of the road for it?? Or can it be fixed?

I had the same problem, shipping the scanner from Olympia, WA, to Austin, TX, the main glass broke (the sheet of glass you see when you open the scanner lid when it is set to scan an opaque object like an 8x10). I ordered a replacement part from the Canon parts center in New Jersey (732-521-7230) and at the time she told me there were only two left in the country, so you might be able to get the last one.

To replace it you just need to lift off the scanner cover, remove one scree in the bottom of each of the two wells the cover posts fit into, and lift the dark plastic part on the back of the scanner up (I think there are a couple of plastic snaps on the back side but they are not easily broken. Just pull up uniformly on both sides. Then you can remove the broken glass and put the new sheet in (align the plastic guides on the new sheet just like the ones on the old one were aligned).

Unfortunately, my scanner still doesn't work -- so I may have to give up on it. It seems stuck on a fairly well known failure code (2,178,0) when I start to scan and Canon customer support says there are no authorized service centers for the 9950F (I wonder if all their scanners are not repairable?).

Broken glass

I would return it back to ebay. You can not just buy glass and the scanner will work. The scanner is put together in a vacum sealed room because if there is any debris on the glass or inside the glass it will produce black marks on the paper when you copy or send a fax. The unit may be ok to print from your pc but you will not be able to use the scanner glass at all.
