GE microwave model JE1540WW The part of the oven that is used by the door to tell the oven that the door is closed or open, does not work

All functions of the micro work perfectly exept that it will not turn on. It looks like the part of the oven that is pushed in when the door closes has fallen down or broken.

I have not been able to use the convection portion of my convection microwave oven which is a GE Profile. It tells me that the damper is stuck. How do I remedy this situation?

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode (open for microwaving, closed for convection cooking). If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle or display an error code.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the damper switch or damper motor, or the damper door may be binding.

I can provide more specific help if you will let me know your full model number as shown on the tag inside the cooking cavity or around the door area.

Ge space saver microwave oven Model number HVM1540SN2SS. Interior fan turns on when door is open. This just started yesterday. Please help

The possible issue may be some door sensor broken or work abnormal. Double check three door sensors, especially for two door sensors who are working on normal close state.

Remove the cover. You should be able to access the two latches and release them. Once open you will have to take the door apart and repair the latch

We have a relatively new (about 6 weeks old) GE OTR microwave--model is JVM1540SP1SS. Yesterday it started "running' even when there isn't any food in there and before we push any buttons. When the...

It sounds like a sticky door switch. There are several switches operated by the door latches to keep the oven from operating with the door open. It's possible someone got a little too rough when closing the door, which can cause misadjustment.

Since the oven is so new it will still be under warranty, though. Why not let GE fix it? You just need to tell them it's not working properly. First call the retailer where you purchased the oven. If they arranged installation they probably also handle service. Otherwise you can contact GE's customer service as instructed in your owner's manual to find out how to handle the repair.

It works even if I open or close the door.

if thats a microwave.. then the sensor of the closed door is broken.. thats why it worked even when open.. and that is really dangerous...
so.. your best bet would be opening it and find the broken thing that tells the microwave when its closed...

that thing is usually the little secures attach to close the oven..

if its not a microwave, the problem might still be something similar to this..
