SOURCE: Zyxel 660HW DSL LED keeps flashing

Try to change the Local or LAN IP Address of your Zyxel to 192.168.5.1 and do not configure the Zyxel router for PPPoE Connection. It should be configured as Obtain IP Automatically or Automtic DHCP.

How to set up zyxel NBG416N in universal repeater mode

Yes Zyxel nbg-416n does indeed support repeater mode but you need to make sure you have at least firmware version v1.00(USA.5)C0 and you can switch to that mode via maintenance/sys op mode.

Hi,
I hope the the green Light your are talking is the ADSL light.
If the DSL light flickers and then cuts off that means the cable comes to your home is not good. Please ask the provider to check the cable and VPI/VCI settings/signals

I put it in bridge mode and can't but it back into routing mode (tried to fix NAT problems) tried using the default 192.168.1.1 and then command prompt to find the ip that way to no avail? any ideas?

hello Cadmb3220
Of course it won't work :)
Once you set your zyxel in bridge mode all it does is translating adsl signal to comething that any other pppoe ethernet device can understand.
so in this bridged mode zyxel has no IP, is not manageable and can't be accesed over an ip ...

only way to access it again is to do a factory reset ...

btw ... i'm almost sure that whatever nat problem you had - you had because you didn0t make the same rule in your firewall on the zyxel :)

Do you have a zyxel series p600, 660R-D1 dsl modem user manual? I have one and have a range of kbps of 3050 to 240 kblps. I thought I would read and see what to expect, Earthlink and the phone company...

The user manual or user guide of the 660R-D1 is available on the zyxel.com site, if you go into the following path:
Support and downloads --> download library ---> up at the right hand side top you see a drop down menu with list of products, choose 660R Compact series. This brings you to the download page and you can choose out
Model :
P-660R-D1
Version : 3.40
Language : English
OS : N/A
Release Date : 07-14-2006
Size : 7 MB

Citating the part from the manual that I think is important (see down at the bottom of this post the speeds, and the note that it may be influenced by your ISP standard. Ask your ISP what they use.):

1.1

The ZyXEL Device is an ADSL2+ gateway that allows super-fast internet access over analog (POTS) or digital (ISDN) telephone lines (depending on your model).
In the ZyXEL Device product name, "R" denotes an integrated router and "D" denotes a chip set standard.
Your ZyXEL Device product name ends with a number. Models ending in "1", for example P660R-D1, a denote a device that works over the analog telephone system, POTS (plain old telephone service). Models ending in "3" denote a device that works over ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network). Models ending in "7" denote a device that works over T-ISDN (UR-2)

1.2

The DSL RJ-11 (ADSL over POTS models) or RJ-45 (ADSL over ISDN models) connects to your ADSL-enabled telephone line. The ZyXEL Device is compatible with the ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ standards. Maximum data rates attainable for each standard are shown in the next table:

ADSL:
Up: 832 kbps Down: 8Mbps
ADSL2:
Up: 3,5Mpbs Down: 12Mpbs
ADSL2+:
Up: 3,5Mbps Down: 24Mbps

Note: if your ZyXEL Device does not support Annex M, the max ADSL2/2+ upstream data rate is 1,2Mbps.
ZyXEL Devices which work over ISDN do not support Annex M. The standard your ISP supports determines the maximum upstream and downstream speeds attainable. Actual speeds attained also depend on the distance from your ISP, line quality etc.

Please let me know if the above answered your question:)

How do you access WPA Key Settings on a ZyXEL modem?

To access Zyxel configuration/setup utility, launch a web browser (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, or Netscape, etc.) on your computer, type in http://192.168.1.1 (default IP address for most Zyxel wireless devices) in your Internet browser's Location/Address bar, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
If presented with a user authentication (login) screen, try the following:

Default Username - Zyxel Wireless Router: N/A (none, leave blank)
Default Password - Zyxel Wireless Router : 1234

If you cannot login using the above, verify that (a) you are entering your password correctly, and that (b) your CAPSLOCK key is off. It could also be due to the firmware (a set of instructions stored on an EEPROM microchip) on your Zyxel product being corrupt. If so, you would need to reset your Zyxel WiFi router to its factory default settings.

IMPORTANT: Do not forget to promptly secure your Zyxel router (using a strong password, a non-obvious WEP Key, etc.) following a reset to factory default settings. Failing to do so may potentially expose your entire WLAN to scammers.

*Your vote is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P660HW-D1 Router not working wireless

Problem with the Zyxel P-660?   I experienced:
1. laptop would see the wireless 660HW briefly and then it would disappear.   2. laptop would not see wireless at all. 3.  same issue with desktop when using USB wireless 11g dongle 4. no problem on wired connection (ethernet)
EASY solution!   if Zyxel is set to scan for a channel it will want to work on channel 13 nearly every time in a busy environment.
HP laptops and many receivers cannot recieve on 13 -  highest channel is 12.
Pick on setting for the Zyxel which matches an available channel on your receiver.  Problem solved.
