Brother mfc 8440 "printing" problems

Brother MRC 8440 says "printing" but nothing happens. Also, receives faxes but doesn't print and will copy but won't print. Says "printer busy" How do I fix.

    when I try to copy or print nothing happens. display says prineter busy and status light is steady yellow.

    the machine can neither print or copy. Only very little prints come out on the paper

Hi
I recently had this problem - tested fuser and all sensors.
The fix is to reset the memory.
To do this, enter the Maintenance mode. Menu, * 2864
(enter the number quickly)
then type 01 ( zero one ), this will reset all memory including the user settings.
Finally type 99 to exit Maintenance mode.
The printer will restart and the error will be gone. Test out with copy and printer reports

Note to reset the MFC 8440 just unplug the machine and hold down the Stop/exit button, plug it in again, and release the button after at least 5 seconds.

Does the machine print anything? such as a directory or print when making a copy? I rather suspect it does not. When an incoming fax is recvd does the paper get pulled in and come out blank? If so your problem is with printing (or lack of it). Perform head cleaning. Also make sure the black cartridge still does not have its deal stuck on it. Post again if you still have problem.

MFC 8440 drum changed but still states to change drum soon. Faxes are only coming in after turning off/on machine. It indicates printing but nothing happens.
There were instructions with the new drum cartridge that explained how to reset the drum counter. If you still have the box and paperwork, then go through that step-by-step and reset the counter. The machine still thinks that it has the old drum. After a certain amount of copies or prints, the machine will save itself by turning off the printer or copy functions.

Sends blank fax
Dirty scan glass

Clean slit of glass extremly well, it is a small slit rectangler section of glass before copy glass on the scanner.

Glue, Liquid paper are common finds on the glass in this area, While you have the lid up, clean white reference area (on lid directly on top of scan glass when lid is closed)

First things first:

press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow-up button. machine will display an error code no. plz post AS A NEW POST again.

BTW: The update has nothing to do with the stopping of the machine!
