My GBA SP was left out in the rain, and wont work

My GBA SP was left out in the rain, and first it wouldn't work at all, then after it dried, it would turn on but the screen was all screwed up and now it wont work again. When i plug in the charger the light comes on for a few minutes, then turns off. Could it just be the battery?

Ok, what's happening now is, I replaced the battery; now it charges and turns on and everything, but the screen is still all messed up, it's blurry with some lines going through it; also when you play, it seems to go a little slower; but it might be just the way it looks with the screen. Is it possible to replace the screen components. I'd just really like to fix it if it is possible.

Yes, but internal composants or the screen could have been messed up. I wonder how your SP is still alive after that...

SOURCE: GBA SP backlight off.

The SP has a small circular button near the display when the clamshell is opened. That controls the power to the backlight. Have you tried pressing that?

My GBA SP wont charge

The lead or plug on your charger may be cracked. I have a SP charger but it has a bit of the plastic cracked off and has to be in a certain position to work properly. Otherwise you will need a new battery.

The right schoulder button won't work. can I repkace this

you can yes but I dont think you can buy the part, so you'll need to look out for another broken GBA SP.
Once you have another you'll need a "triwing" screwdriver (google it or ebay it!) to open the GBA SP

Once you're inside the button will pop out easily.

To be honest though, given the price of working GBA SPs on ebay, I'd just buy another. its easier ;)

Will not play SP games

Did you clean the contacts on the game as well as the system? You may also try setting the GBA back to it's factory settings by turning it on and holding down L,R,A,B and Start
