The photo conductor is the round drum unit that is light sensitive. The laser in the printer writes an image of what you want to print on the drum and then the toner is applied to the drum and transferred to the paper.

Everytime we print there are dots down the left hand side of the paper

You may have a build up of toner on your photo conductor unit. With a soft dry cloth carefully wipe the Green tub after which is located behind your toner cartridge it is the photo conductor unit.

After a few copies are made, black streaks start showing up on the copies and gets worse with each successive copy

for most copier those black streaks are caused by poor cleaning of the Photo Conductor Drum these can be fix by replacing the cleaning blade. after replacing them clean the Photo Conductor Unit and make some test copies.

Reset pcu correctly

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It means that the photoconductor unit is not set correctly. You’ll need to reset the black or color PCU correctly. Match the green arrow at the tip of the photo conductor unit to the rail inside the printer. Make sure the green arrow fits securely on the rail before proceeding to the next step. If you do not attach the green arrow of the photo conductor unit securely to the rail, you may damage the photo conductor unit. Push the front of the photo conductor unit slowly, sliding the unit on the cover and into the machine until it stops.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

SC 441

Hi there the following is the description from the service manual hope this helps you Thanks J

441 PCU (CMY) motor error
The drive motor of the CMY
PCU is not locked.
• Defective gear
• Voltage between pins 2 and 14 (CN12 on engine
control board) abnormal (not +24V), or pin 12
(CN12 on engine control board) unable to send
motor clock
• Defective CMY PCU drive motor
1. Replace the CMY PCU.
2. Replace the engine control board.
3. Replace the main drive unit assembly.

I would try replacing the CMY PCU (Drums (Photo Conductor Units) first before any of the others.

Thanks J
