Plazma tv has a black vertical column from top to bottom about 3 inches wide. The rest of the picture is fine. I replaced the c2 buffer board and it did not fix the problem.

What else could be causing this problem. All connections seem to be solid. Thanks

Could be the screen itself. If so, change the TV. Good luck,

Serge.

It is the buffer X board. They are loacted at the botton of the set. Replace the one connected to the display panel directly in line with the lines in your picture.

It is either the plasma panel itself or a connection problem, either way it will need to get serviced. Suggest you find receipt and phone Panasonic.
Cheers.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. As Plasma TV is a very hard working device so it produces lots of heat and around 75% issues in Plasmas are caused due to overheating. To start with you'll have to open the back of the unit and check for any bulged/bad capacitors on Y and Z-sus boards. As the sound is working fine so it seems that the power supply is fine, also check the control board for any bulged capacitors. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

SOURCE: Black vertical column

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

Hi have a samsung 42 inch plasma, all of a sudden it has a band 20cm wide of dotted lines going across the whole screen, some channels or when playstation in use the band gets wider, does not seem to...

if the band is horizontal your tv has bad y-buffer board. Usually there are 2 buffer boards- top and bottom. if the problem is in the top half of the screen replace the top board, otherwise replace bottom board.
but better to replace both a the same time.

if the tv has a vertical lines from top to bottom it may have bad plasma panel and can be considered as not economical to repair.

Black vertical bar starts 11" from left, approx 3" wide and goes from top to bottom. Replaced TNPA4441 board, no fix. Disconnected ribbon to that section of plasma screen and bar turns white with color...

Since you've replaced the C2 buffer board and didn't fix it. It's very unlikely but possible that the D board is defective. Visually inspect the solder joints on the D connector or try to press slightly on it; if pressing the connector works then there is a loose or cold solder joint on the D connector.
The screen should be replace since still under warranty. The price for a new screen might exceed the price of the plasma, even if you pay for labour still something to decide whether to fix or not.
Try contacting panasonic and ask them nicely if they would be willing to cover the labour cost as well.
Good Luck.

A black line running verticall down the middle of

There is no invertor board on a plasma tv. The fault is the X address buffer board. This is located on the bottom of the screen and runs horizontally the whole width of the screen. If you remove the heatsink plate that covers the x address boards and you need to look at the screen ribbon at the same position as where the bar is (in the middle).Vary gently lift the Xbuffer ribbon lock and gently take out the ribbon.Clean the contacts very carefully with a fibre pen or an electrical cleaning fluid.Insert ribbon back and heatsink and check. Here is a picture of the board and ribbon

a 1 inch bar is associates with 1 ribbon fault. So if the bar was 3 inches in from the left of the screen, the faulty ribbon will be 3 inches in from the right working from behind the TV. If cleaning dont cure the fault, then the Buffer IC will be blown and order a new centre buffer board (you can buy off Ebay)

We have lost a two inch wide black section on the right side of the plasma panel, any ideas

Most likely the lower buffer board " E " needs to be replaced. Right now I'm working on repairing a 42" Samsung plasma HP-R4272. The Service manual for that TV says for trouble shooting for that problem is the lower buffer board " E ".
Best to find the correct Service Manual for your TV over the internet to get the correct part number for replacement. The Service Manual should be less than $20.

Vertical white line down centre of Soniq PT42SH plasma TV.

One of your "X" buffer boards is defective. In Panasonic plasma tv's they are located at the bootom of the set and connect directly to the plasma diplay panel via a thin ribbon cable. The board you want to replace will be directly in line with the discolored vertival line in the picture. The part number is on the circuit board and usualy starts with "tnp..." or "txp..."

Black bar running from top to bottom in the screen.

There are horizontal and vertical relays in plazmas that go out over time and cause this to happen , You can get an estimate from a local tv repair service in some cases they can give it to you over the phone. Good luck.

Phillips 42 inch Plasma -Screen Issues!!!

intermittent loss of picture on either bottom or top half of screen is specific to y buffer boards located on left side of screen going from top to bottom when looking at back of tv. the y lower buffer would be the board to replace to resolve the loss of bottom half of picture. if the top half also is going out intermittently could tied to upper buffer as well but just a note the y main board to right of these buffers drives those two boards so in some cases could also be part of the problem. if only bottom half is affected i would recommend replacing lower buffer only
