I have a Necchi 3101FA. I am trying to figure out how to release the stop motion knob so that the needle won't run while I am trying to thread the bobbin. Does anyone have any idea?

I just bought it. It's used and I want to see if the machine works.

SOURCE: Necchi 215A Sewing machine Could anyone help I

Make sure the bobbin has a 3-5 inch thread tail
Then make sure the top thread has a 3-5 inch tail
Then hold the top thread tail with your fingers (away from the needle)
& use the hand wheel on the right hand side of the machine to slowly
Lower the needle in the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick
Up that way

SOURCE: I have a Necchi 3205

Hi, I've got a necchi sewing machine too, not the same model as yours.
you said you were sewing denim & the machine jamed & bent the needle, it's sounds like the machine is out of time, sometime it doesn't take much to get them out of time & would have to be serviced by a repair shop with the tools needed to fix the timing.

The upper tension popped off my Necchi 3101FA sewing machine and I do not know the order these parts need to go on

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

Release stop motion knob won't move

What are you calling a stop motion knob? Are you trying to stop the needle from moving while winding a bobbin?

I have a Necchi 3101FA and I took out the entire area where the bobbin is held. I do not know how to correctly fit it back in. Also, I am not entirely sure how to properly thread it.

Send me an email and I will scan the manual and email it to you. It is not very detailed with the machine being made in China but if you concentrate on the pictures you can eventually figure it [email protected]

Take out the bobbin and bobbin case and check round the raceway, chances are you have a small piece of thread stuck

Necchi 575FA runs heavy, wheel barely turns.

It is the bit that rotates the bobbin case back and forth in a "shuttle" motion.
It sounds like it would be worth exploring the idea that it is time for a service !!

I need to find needles for my necchi model 3101FA in Wisconsin

Your machine uses standard needles. 15x1 system 705 sizes 9-18 which you can buy where ever needles are sold. If the needles appear to be too short, then you have a timing problem

Stop motion knob won't tighten

Remove the stop motion wheel and you will see another part that is loose(looks kind of like a washer with ears on it). Reposition this on the shaft and put the stop motion wheel back on. The stop motion wheel was too loose and it allowed the washer to fall off the shaft. The screw is nice to have and it keeps the washer from falling off the shaft but it's not absolutely necessary to use the machine. Just be caredul when winding the bobbin.

Wire thread guide placement

The thread will be threaded in a clockwise direction on the tension control. Pull the thread until there is a tension on the spring. There will be a catch on the thread that you will notice this. Now, thread the machine in the same way that is normal. It should work. Make sure you start your tension at four to test how it is doing. From there make slight changes in tension. Don't worry about the very tiny bend in the wire at the very end. It is only for weight and to keep your thread from catching and getting broken.
