go to bios settings and note type of cd device model number for cd drive and then search internet for windows 64 bit driver for model number and install
Then try its settings on power and cd rom tweak it. If not contact problem. Then in cd, try lens cleaner if not replace or for last before replacing swab the lens with cotton buds with a little amount of 70 percent alcohol. For safety do it when unit is off.
Boot to the BIOS, turn on Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, Numlock. Then press ALT+E (You should hear one beep) then ALT+F (You should hear one beep) if you have no floppy disk drive, turn off the Floppy Drive and the diskette controller the ALT+B to save and reboot.
Well, the CD ribon cable goes into the IDE 2 slot on the Mainboard and the furthest connector on the other end is the master, the second one closest to the board is the Slave connector. The CD drive has a jumper on the back between where the ribbon and the power connector go, on the case some where it should have a diagram showing the jumper setting to put it in as master or slave. Set it accordingly.
Same with Hard drives.
If the Hard drive has a diferent Cable like a SATA, then be sure to get a SATA as the new one.
Now the IDE cables may be bad check them for damage just to be on the safe side.
If you have any Cd software relating to your CD drive install this.
If not then try google or ask.com to find any drivers that you may need on the manufactuers website, relating to your make and model.
Hope this helps
