It's definitely your kill switch, disconnect it and try. It's electrical for sure.

SOURCE: I own a stihl fs-55 brush cutter, every time I start the engine I have to remove and clean the spark plug. Any ideas what's causing this.

If your spark plug is a whitish color I would change out the coil. It should only cost around $30-40 and with the age and the time of year you use it i would suspect a coil. At some point moisture has gotten into the coil windings or the path of spark and fried it is what it sounds like. Probably giving you a weak spark and causing a whitish color on your plug
OR...and sounds more like the problem ...
your plug is covered in a black soot. It is carbon buildup....service your valves...You probably have carbon build up on your valves as well as they are probably out of adjustment. Good luck

check the HT lead to the plug, slide the rubber cap back on the cable and see if the hooked connection is still in the cable. Check on/off switch and switch cables to the ignition module. (Illustration D- item 27)

No spark

The spark generator that sits close to the fly wheel only needs a mm gap. Make sure that this is the case. If there is a small gap there is possibly a break in the wire or the points under the fly wheel may also be rusty.
