Everything seems to be working okay, but I cannot see anything through the frame in order to take the picture.
SOURCE: IXUS 75 has blank LCD screen
A screen fails in one of two ways. 1.Backlight goes- If looked at closely or to one side the images are there as ghosts but not illuminiated. 2. Connector or board component has failed which could mean with a back light Okay a brilliant white screen. Failure 1 - nothing for you to do there Failure two -if it is a connector- gently flexing the camera casing in the region of the base of the screen may elicit a reconnect. In either case however- I think you will find that unless it is under warranty or insured in some way- New camera will be a more economical approach. But check out makers support site first.

This will happen if you have the camera set to manual and the aperture/shutter speed combination does not let in enough light. There's a wheel on the top of the camera with M, A, S, P, Auto settings - turn the wheel to select P or Auto and try again.
Also, if you're indoors, you may have to use the flash.

If your camera is an SX110 IS, A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.
However, if you made a typo, and your camera is really an SD110, the problem would then likely be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free worldwide, and may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.
