When I turn it on, the screen lights but stays black. With HDMI you can hear sound but still no image.
Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

Try Shining a bright light at the screen. can you see any images on the screen? If you can, then the backlight on the tv has gone, and can be replaced. If you cant then it may be a fault with the inverror (power) board on the TV

Unplug it from the wall, wait 2 minutes and plug it back in. if problem still exists, its probably the main pcb.

Neo2123 is correct.
The HDMI output is setup as a second disply, not Primary disply.
You will need to get into the video Driver settings and configure this for a single monitor.
1. Right click on the desktop
2. select "graphics properties"
3. set up the "Digital Display"
All the steps or naming may be different on you computer, but some of this is fiarly standard.

Plasma tvs do not have "back lights" LCDs do. you probably have a bad driver board along with the upper or lower buffer board or maybe both, best to have a tv shop look at it.
