If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.
Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, starting the flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be
inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a
multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to
read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem
On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.
On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.
On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

Failed power supply due to bad caps (leaking/bulging top). That will be the first place to check.

It is detecting shorted circuits or power supply problem, need in-depth troubleshooting. Inspect the power supply module first for any sign of bad caps with domed tops, DC output voltage readings check.

Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

there is a problem with the power supply. most likely too much ripple that is ac leaking into the dc. I have seen the power supply repaired but it is not always possible. If there is an obvious swelled capacitor on the power supply that can be replaced this will be the best bet for repair. If there is nothing visually obvious then it gets a little harder since you won't really know which component is not working, the tv shuts down on a protection circuit so if the power supply can be repaired and the voltage "cleaned up" then the tv could work again. I have also seen replacement power supplys sold.

I just had one of these in the shop. It was a bad Main Unit ( Apx $250-$350 for the part alone) Another problem is there can be 8 different versions of this board. There is the plain and the A version shown to the right of the model# . The A version has 4 different boards and the plain version has 4 different boards. There is a board # near the middle of the board with a # in a triangle above this # and is 1 to 4. You might find on EBAY or Shop Jimmy's for a low price, but it is a Gamble! John
