HD61W66YX60 I HAVE A 61" HDTV model # HD61W66YX60 there is currently no picture but a few bowed lines going across the top of screen all the way across in the top six inches of screen the lines are thin and different colors. The sound works perfect- This just happened today and TV has worked perfectly in the past. Purchased TV 16 months ago. TV is still under warrenty but would like to know what problem is. Our picture is actually bowed and the convergence function is no longer an option, it has just completely disappeared. Our TV RCA HD61W66 is also under two years old and we have a warranty but like you I just want to know what caused this (still waiting on service Tech).

This is a convergence issue. it is caused by one of three things
1. a bad convergence board
2. a bad fuse feeding the convergence circut
3. a bad relay feeding the convergence circut

whatever the one it is they all have the same result, an inoperative convergence curcut. needs service .

if it is still under warranty, great. If not the parts can cost up to $300 and labor can be the same

Sounds to me like something else is causing those parts to fail. It should be under warranty but depends on the repair shop. Why not just buy a new one.

Picture problems

Is it one color that has moved? Sounds like a convergence problem. Find a channel with a fixed picture, or if you have digital cable or satellite pull up a guide, something with a straight line across the screen. You will likely see one of the colors is bowed or or shifted. You may be able to adjust that with your remote under the "convergence" adjustments in the menu. If it will not adjust it will need work done to the convergence circuit. Not a DIY project.

check for cold solder joints around the flyback transformer and a open pico type fuse very close to it. they are rectangle in shape and ususually the one in the middle of the three is the culprit. The problem is in the pincushion circuit

Goofy intermitent picture (bows with wiggly fibers across screen)

Convergence amps are going bad replace these and you will fix your intermittent problem.

the tv color circuit is off frequency change the color ic take a look on the crystal that gives the 4.8.mhz burst could be that it needs to be replace dont rule out the video IF change the two ICs you mention.good luck.from the look of your tv screen that is my conclusion.good luck.email me at [email protected]

No picture have sound

sounds like your IC's took a dive again. Did you change them or a shop? You have to also make sure that when you change the IC's that you put plenty of heat sink compound on the back of the IC's and do not use the cheapy IC's that you can get for 20 bucks or less as I have found they do not last. This convergence board should be available as a complete board. Good Luck

you have a convergence problem.. If you understand how this works then you can go into the set find the convergence ic's and replace them and sometimes you need to do some alighnment as well. Its always best though to let a service tech do a job like this as he will have all the proper equipment to adjust and troubleshoot the set Good luck
