SOURCE: t.v. will not turn on. flahes "lamp" then no picture!

I have a picture but the tv will periodically turn itself off during the day and then flash the 3 blinking lights...anyone know what the problem could be. We can fix it ourselves if we knew for sure what it is.

SOURCE: Turning off

Three blinking lights indicates a lamp problem.  This can be from A) a bad lamp, B) bad ballast C) bad Light Engine/DMD Board.  Try replacing the bulb first.  As with any lamps, it has a limited life.  If that doesn't work, you can try the ballast next.  If that doesn't work, it's time to take it in to a certified repair center for diagnostics.  Here is a page from the service manual on the three blinking lights.

SOURCE: Immediately Shuts off with blinking light codes

I suggest doing a google search using the tv model # and brand.
I have learned myself that different big screen tvs seem to each have their own common problems. I have read before of power supply issues that cause what your describing.

SOURCE: sound but no picture - won't stay on

you may check your lamp first. other than that i would say a faulty mains board.

Replaced bulb yesterday worked fine. Today light will not turn on. projector turns on both lights green for 10 seconds, then power goes red and status blinks green for about 5 seconds, then status light...

green green is power on, normal
then it tries to light the lamp, but it can't so the protection circuit comes activated.
you get red and green blinking

Then it goes to standby, red and off.

so something has happened to the lamp, or lamp ballast power supply.
Take the lamp out and check if all is OK with the 2 terminals in the connector, and the leads to the lamp are intact.

Failing that, I would suspect the ballast lamp power unit

Hello, I try to help. But your questions not spesific.
Below are conditions lamp indicators that appear blinking and solutions (for samsung) :

1. If Timer and Lamp blinking --> Auto timer on/off was been set, picture will appear ~ 25 second.
2. If Timer and Standby/Temp blinking --> A cooling fan inside the set is not operating properly.
3. If Lamp and Standby/Temp blinking --> The lamp cover on the rear of the set is not installed properly.

I hope that solve your problem.
Thanks

Hi,
Usually if all 3 indicator lights come on this could be the color wheel is not functioning or the DINe chip needs to be re-soldered. Be sure the lamp door is closed all the way, but the color wheel needs to be looked at first.

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

No picture and no sound

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
