It needs servicing by a Technician- often times say it only needs belt but you can replace belts and still have the same problem. The dried lub has to be removed and new fresh non- degrading grease needs to go in and then it will work. Dual cassette decks are usually not worth the $200 it will take to work on two mechanisms. You might find a $10/Hr technician but I doubt it.

SOURCE: Kenwood Dual Cassette deck KX-97CW runs fast

Sometimes this is due to the tape not being pinched between the capstan and the rubber roller.

Make sure there is no slack in the tape when you put it in the deck. See if you can observe the tape going down over the capstan on the correct side.

If this isn't the problem, then the mechanism that engages the capstan roller may not to be working. In most cases, the rubber roller is mounted on the same mechanism that moves the record-play head against the tape. If this mechanism isn't moving, that would cause the problems you describe.

SOURCE: I have a Kenwood KX

The flywheel belt would have broken or gone slack and fallen off the motor pulley. You can confirm this by opening the top and looking inside. If you can shake the machine holding it upside down the belt might even fall off.Replacing the belt is a tricky job. Its like putting back a bicycle chain except there is a metal plate behind the flywheel and your hand won't go there.

SOURCE: Sony TC-138SD cassette deck starts

It sounds like the belt is slipping or broken which monitors the speed of the tape movement. When you play or rewind the tape, it thinks the tape has reached the end of play and shuts off. You can try a different tape to make sure the tape does not have too much tension on it. If the second tape has the same result you will need to remove the top cover of the deck to inspect the tape drive mechanism. Make sure the belts and pulleys are clean and replace any belts which have glazing or cracks. If the belt is broken you will need to replace it with a compatible belt of the same length and width.

How do I get fast forward & rewinds to work on my Teac W450-R dual cassette deck..?

Check the belts, inside the unit you should see a rubber belt which is what pulls the tape fast forward or rewind. Some belts with time get loose and slip, they can also break and fall off which will not let you fast forward or rewind.
Open your cassette player and look where the plastic pulleys are located and check for the belts, they might not be broken at all but very loose and slip on the plastic pulley.

Kenwood KX-79 CW dual cassette hook up?

Just connect the deck via tape 1 the out of the deck going to the in of the amp. While the out of the amp goes to the in of the deck.

The tape deck itself will automatically choose the player that plays the cassette. One will play the other will be on pause (if you press both play buttons) till the tape stops then the other will play. For recording from tape to tape one deck will be the copy and the other the copier. There should be a dubbing button which you press to record tape to tape. Some models have a high speed dub also. For recording from the amp unless both decks have record buttons you will only be able to record with one deck. Make certain the dub button is not set.

Looking for schematic for Kenwood KX-55 stereo cassette tape deck

These dual cassette deck are rarely worth he effort to put repair time into. I checked Hi Fi Engine and they did not have anything. Is it worth a $100 repair bill? if not then look for a good solid single deck.

I have a kx-w4050 dual kenwood tape deck niether side will play hear click and counter moves one then another click. Is there a way to fix this?

Yes, the belts need to be check and idlers or whatever drive mechanism that is used in that system. Dual deck units are among the most unreliable units there are and a reason I tell people for the last 30 years not to buy those things. Almost most of the time they are not worth fixing due to their poor performance at the end. These are facts not just opinion.

Cassette Recorder play problem

Sounds like the tape tension sensor is stuck. The sensor is always telling the mechanism that the tape has reached the end.
