It could be the partition is gone. Right click on computer and pick manage. Then under storage there will be disk management. If you can see the drive there you will have the option to Partition, format and so on. If not you might want to try gparted. You can down load the ISO and make a boot cd or memory stick . In both cases you can easily wipe out you main drive. Be careful and sure which drive you are working on. If you go the gparted route you may want to unplug your main drive so you are sure.

I hope this is helpful

Hi,my hd FUJITSU MHV2120AH Media its not working properly anymore.I connect via usb to a mac or pc and doesn't allowed anymore to initialize the disc,so its not possible to erase all data. It tells me...

If you can read teh data with a utility, you should back up (copy) anything on it which you want to save. Then try to use the utility to format the drive. If you mean the windows drive manager, then you may need a data recovery SW to save any data.
If you can not format the drive, consider it junk and toss it. If concerned about data privacy, just smack it with a hammer till it comes apart.

How do I format my new WD Elements SE 500GB for Mac OS Snow Leopard

hi.

follow instructions below
1> Open the system drive, usually titled "Macintosh HD." Open Applications, then Utilities and double click the "Disk Utility" program to open it. A window will open giving a list of all the drives currently mounted on the computer.
2> Select the disk that needs to be formatted on the left. It is not possible to format the startup disk unless the system has booted from the Install Disk. It is important to note that formatting the startup disk will permanently erase the data stored on the disk. If you are planning on erasing the startup disk, back up all important files and applications.
3> Click on the "Erase" tab to the right of the list of drives. The window will now display the options for erasing the hard drive and formatting it to work on the Macintosh computer.
4> Select the Volume Format from the pop-up list. In most cases it's best to leave it at "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as this is the default. This setting is the best option for running Mac OS X. If there are other requirements for the disk, then select the format that best suits your needs. If you have questions about the formats, refer to the Apple user's manual.
5> Name the hard drive. Type a name for the disk in the field where it asks for the name. This name will always appear when the disk is mounted on a Macintosh computer.
6> Click the erase button. A window will open asking to verify the erase procedure. Click the erase button in this window to start the process of erasing the disk. Once the process is complete, the drive will appear with the name it was given on the left side of the window with the list of drives and on the desktop of the Macintosh computer.

My HDD can detected by the BIOS, but it cannot be read in Windows Explorer. How to solve this problem?

Is this hard disk brand new? If yes, you have to format it before using it. If the hard disk is not new and has alredy data on it, there might be another problem since the format procedure will destroy all these data. If the hard disk is an external one (connected with USB, Firewire e.t.c.) it is already formated so the problem is elsewhere. Please clarify me the details in order to help you.

Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.

It does not load maps

Your probably loading the maps OK, but the numbers your supplying the program and you 3600 are not compatable.

1. Make sure you have software that came WITH your unit..... It will not work with anothers discs.

2. Do a total ERASE of the disk and your 3600 both. Use your computer do erase the chip disk, and read your book how to do a total ERASE of your unit.

It is critical that you use the correct software.

Try this first, if it does not solve problem, get back to us.

My disk drive is not working i am trying to down load a new program and when i put the disk in it will read it and then error appears

Hi saratrought, if Windows XP runs and you have read problems in CD/DVD drive try to read another disk, if any other disk work fine then you need to copy your CD/DVD info (or program) in another new disk.

Or just use Windows Explorer to try copy all data from CD/DVD disk to a New Folder in your Hard Drive and then from that location you can try to install your program, if your data don´t copy well then again i tell you that it´s your disk not your CD/DVD drive.

Sorry by bad english.

Install new program

I take it that you just want to run 10.3 and no longer require OS9.
After starting from the OSX install disc, run Disc Utilities. Form there you can erase the hard drive. You should then be able to install OSX.

Wont defrag

Morning Ashley,
It looks like that you have got problems enough to cut through the "red tape" and buy a all together new computer.
Maybe it is a perfect New Year present to you, as those two problems demands money and knowhow.
Your BIOS need a Flash (new software).
BIOS are an acronym for basic Input/output System. It is the boot firmware program on a PC, and controls the computer from the time you start it up until the operating system takes over. When you turn on a PC, the BIOS first conduct a basic hardware check, called a Power-On Self Test, to determine whether all of the attachments are present and working. Then it loads the operating system into your computer's random access memory, or RAM.
The BIOS also manages data flow between the computer's operating system and attached devices such as the hard disk, video card, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
As you may have noticed, your main problem lays I your hard disk, if it has a defect, the BIOS will react (in your case crash), and normally it would come with an error like error in memory address 000a2100000a2320.
The program that checks this lay in an EPROM (Erasable, Programmable, Read Only Memory) that hold this startup procedure, - it needs to be "reprogrammed". This EPROM can be flushed with a new program, but if anything goes wrong while flushing, you need a new BIOS, and it can be a challenge to get a new one.
You may think that a new hard disk may solve your problem, and it might, but then you have to reinstall you Windows software again, as a new hard disk is empty. And taking the chance that you may get upset, I don’t think installing Windows is within your field.
Now, if you go and buy a new computer, do get a model with either Windows XP or multi boot with Vista and XP, and when startup, choose XP. Microsoft has admitted that Vista Is almost as big a mistake as Millennium.
I realize that this is not what you expected, but as you trust me enough to go direct to me, I´d rather tell you the truth than make you start out a dead end road.
Marry Xmas to you and yours.
Regards
/Teis

Hi, You need to enter your CMOS/BIOS setup and set your "First Boot Device". Immediately after powering up, press the "Del" key, display will show CMOS/BIOS settings. Verify that all your hard disks are being detected/recognized by your PC. Thereafter, set your First boot device to your new HD. Save and Exit. Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
