That means that it is dehumidifying. Is the air coming out still cold? I assume you have tried using the mode button to switch it back? Is the air extremely humid? Perhaps it is humid enough that the machine needs to dry the air before safely operating as an AC. The manual is available here:
The portable AC units generally have a customizable, exhaust hose window, termination kit that comes with the unit.. In other words it can be cut to fit. The one that comes with the unit will fit casement windows, as well as sash windows.
To further assist you, I have included a link to the Owner's/Installation Manual for the model you referenced. You may download and print it if you like.
I had a similar problem with my AC last week. These newer capacitors no longer have PCBs in them. The stuff they use now just ain't as good. As a result their are more capacitor failures tan ever. I would check that. If the cap looks swolen its probably bad.You should also try and lubricate the motor. Use HVAC oil $2 at Ace hardware store. You gonna have to slide out the unit a little to get to the motor. Have rags ready.
Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.
