I still believe your problem is with your defrost heater or defrost thermostat not the defrost timer. Pull the two leads off the heater and ohm it out with your ohm setting on your multi meter .put it on the sound setting as this will be easier, you should get a beep if its good, now look at the thermostat thats connected to the evaporator and see if it is raised up - normally it will be flat.

Testimonial: "Where is the evaporator at is it underneath in the back and my frig is model no SS25AFXMQ00 THANKS ALOT FOR THE HELP"

Your evaporator should be inside the freezer behind the back wall panel, remove the screws and pull out the panel,(you may want to unplug the unit while doing this)The evaporator is the silver metal device and your defrost heater will run underneath the evaporator and up both sides about 7-8" or so. ( it's a "U" shaped heater. Remove the ends off and test the leads on each end of the heater and listen for the beep as I described before. Good Luck!

I suspect that the door seals are not as they should be and allowing air into the compartment bring in humidity that is turning to ice

Drain channel freezes

I had that ice build-up problem on a side-by-side GE. In the end, it turned out to be the defrost timer. After 20 years of use, it wasn't keeping the defrost cycle ON long enough to let all the water drain out. After replacing the timer, problem disappeared.

Possible problem with ice build up and fridge doesnt get cold enough to store food. Freezer works fine.

The noise is due to the ice build up in your evaporator. The evaporator fan blade is rubbing against the ice build up. This can is designed to turn off when you open the door. As far as the defrost problem it can be your defrost bimetal thermostat, the defrost timer/control or your defrost heater.

GE Side by Side Refrig - loud noise behind the ice maker section Model PSS25SGMB BS

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone

There is an almost constant clicking sound from the back of the unit. When the door is opened the clicking stops temporarily and then recommences. The icemaker is not working either and when water is...

Your evaporator fan is hitting ice build up, reach in and see if you have ice build up on the wall. If so you have a defrost problem other wise if its freezing good the is just a small amount on the frame just high enough to touch blades as the go around. You might try a hair dryer around thhe fan.

Freezer fan is making noise so I took all food out used a hair dryier to try and melt some of the frost/ice behind the back panel. Before this all the food had frost on them. This is the second time I did...

you need to have someone check the defrost circuit. if the unit does not defrost properly , ice will accumulate on the back panel where the evaporator is, blocking the evaporator fans completely, and the circulation fan will eventually stop working because the ice buildup contacts the blades all the fan motor, and eventually the refrigerator compartment will start to get warmer and warmer because there is no circulation of cool air.

There is a horrible humming sound coming from the freezer. It seems to be the fan that is behind the piece of plastic in the middle of the back wall of freezer. The sticker in the freezer says MODELS...

Hard to diagnose without being there and taking it apart. Based on my experiences, I suspect the defrost drain could be restricted. The defrost water freezes in place around the fans shrould and the fan blade hits the ice buildup. If the ice builds up enough the fan blade will be stopped and possible damage the fan motor. Access fan area to inspect and defrost (hot water, hair dryer or let it stand overnight off. DC evaporator fan motor WR60X10228 est $85

The freezer sounds louder than normal, where the icemaker is. Turned icemake off but still louder. The icemaker, water and freezer still seem to be working fine.

There are only two other parts in the freezer that can make noisei if your icemaker is off. The evaporator fan motor makes noise when ice builds up around it, and the blades start hitting the ice. It also makes noise when the bearings start to fail on the motor. Rarely, the evaporator will make noise when the freon is pumped through it, we will get all kinds of strange noises. This is not a problem usually as long as your termperatures are fine. To check these items out, you will have to remove the icemaker and the back inside panel in the freezer. With it off, you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from. If it is a bad evaporator fan motor, replace it. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

The fan is making too much noise

Hi. You didn't state which fan you are having issues with, so i will address both areas.

The condenser fan is located behind the refrigerator. It may be necessary to remove an access panel to reach it. This fan has a shroud, and if the fan blade becomes warped, it will rub against the shroud, causing noise. This fan blade is whole, and it can be removed and replaced if this is the case. Ok, the next problem spot will be the evaporator fan.

The evaporator fan is located at the back of the freezer. It may be necessary to remove obstructions such as the contents of the freezer, freezer shelves, ice maker and the rear inside panel of the freezer. The rear panel may be held in place by retainer clips or screws. Remove the screws or depress the retainer clips with a small screwdriver. Check the fan for warped blades. If the blades are warped or mis-aligned, replace it. This fan also is protected by a shroud as well, and it will make noise if the fan blade is damaged.

NOTE_ If the fan blades are not warped, and rubbing against the shrouds, this will indicate that the motor that rotate the affected fan is damaged. It must be replaced, in this case.

Noisey fan stops when door opens

Fan is supposed to stop when the door is opened . Noise from the fan could be a bearing problem if it is a high pitched squeal. If this is the condition you have , replacing the evaporator fan should correct the problem. If the fan is sounding like a buz-saw the fan blade could be pushed in to far on its shaft, or it could be hitting an ice build-up in the blade turning area.
