Belt keeps slipping off on my new Janome model 525B.

I have put the belt back on track a number of times but it slips off after just a minute. Any idea how to fix it longterm?

Hi - a few suggestions:

  1. May just need a good thorough service - generally a good idea to have it completely gone over - by an experienced Pfaff tech - every year or 2. Internal parts can dry out and simply get jammed.
  2. The timing could be off - again an experienced tech can take care of.
  3. The cam-stack (the part that actually makes your stitch formations) may have cracked. At the age of your machine, this isn't uncommon.
At the age of your machine, many other owners actually have it "rebuilt" by an authorized Pfaff service person. This model is one of those that's worth the investment compared to buying a new machine of the same caliber/quality.

If you are comfortable removing the top cover, you may be able to look at the internal parts to see if anything is broken. This will at least give you an idea of what may be happening.

Many authorized techs will not charge you to look at the machine and give you a quote. We'd suggest calling a few sewing machine stores in your area. Don't hesitate to ask friends for their recommendation of a good service person.

Hope this helps - please don't hesitate to respond if you need further info or clarification.

Happy sewing,
Kim & Linnette

SOURCE: Hand Wheel Won't Turn

The "Bobbin stopper" is in the incorrect position. It moves from side to side in a switch like motion. In one direction, it locks up the machine. That is, you can turn the wheele backwards, but not forward.. The bobbin stopper can be found in the book that cam with the machine. In our book, it is item #9.

I have a Janome New Home Combi 10 sewing machine, it's running slow. How can I speed it up?

Question edited for make and model in the correct order.
Question moved to Janome.

It can only be three things.

Belt is slack / worn out and slipping.
Motor is faulty.
Foot pedal needs cleaning and lubrication inside.

Have not embroidered with Elna Xquisite for very long time. Now I keep getting motor is not running turn of machine. we rpalced a fuse but it just keeps blasting

This machine requires maintenance at least once a year. If it’s been a long time, might need servicing before you can embroider. Check that your bobbin winder is not engaged. The belt may have slipped off. If it has the covers have to come off to put it back on.

How do I put a new belt on a Singer 99K?

loosen the bolt that holds the motor mount to the machine body and slide the motor up and the belt off. Replace belt with the same length belt and re-tighten motor mount bolt. The belt should not be too tight or it will slip, or generally run poorly.

My moms machine, the belt seems to be slipping. It will sew if you help it by turning the wheel. Will not wind bobbin. How do you adjust belt or replace?

Very possible the belt has stretched so it is slipping. Usually, there is a way of exposing the pulley on the belt. The bolt holding the pulley can be loosened, then pulled to increase tension on the belt, then re-tighten the bolt. You may find more information by searching the information for your make/model machine.

How do i change the belt on my treadle singer sewing machine?

On a treadle sewing machine usually there is no adjustment on the tightness of the belt so you have to shorten it. There will be a metal clip holding the belt together and you can remove and cut the belt shorter and then put it back together. Be very careful to not cut too much off. Probably be a good idea to trim it a very little at a time.

How can I take the back off my singer model 9960

These machines are like computers. The case splits.... but seriously.. these electronic machines are not for the regular home sewer to fix. Electroncis are dangerous and can kill you. Be safe and take it in. Have it cleaned, adjusted, timed etc., while you are in to have the belt fixed.

My machine is very noisy and squeals when sewing it gets worse when i sew quickly. it seems to need oiling. do you know how i can access the drive belt? thanks

check machine for oil hole locations and oil sparingly. NEVER oil a drive belt. The belt could be slipping which would cause a squeal.
