Hi Shoba
Photo sensor or switch is blocked.
Not sure if yours is an Infra Red beam or switch
Clean & inspect with flashlight
Look for light path (blocked) or moveable part (switch)
Actually.... it must use an Infrared Light Emmiter to shine through the grounds holder to the sensor on the other side/
Sounds like your float is stuck in the full position, or the sensor that shows full is stuck on full.
If tank is empty but shows full, problem lies where full signal is coming from.
I experienced the problem with a hotpoint TCYM 750, with the red empty water light failing to switch off. After removing the filter and cleaning it, cleaning the condenser and drying anywhere I had access to the machine still didn't heat and the light remained on. Reading the post about the machine having 3 reservoirs it struck me that one of the reservoirs may be hard to access. So I unplugged the machine and tipped it onto its front. The reservoir drained, I pushed the machine back upright and cleared up some water around the condenser. The drier now works properly and the empty water light is off - job done!
I experienced the same symptoms on my 8995; solid yellow light (even though the cartridge was full), cleaning failed (red light on) after pressing either start button. After many failed attempts to clean the razor, unplugging the station and pushing start button, I decided to clean the razor under running water. I rinsed the razor under water and then turned it on allowing it to run in a pool of water (like it would in the station). After water cleaning, I returned the razor to the station, pressed the start button and it worked! Was able to do both the quick clean and auto clean.
Check the edge of the container that goes in to the machine there is a small part that sticks out, it is possible that that piece is not touching the microswitch in the machine. Remove the drain tray and the dregs tray, check the corners of the machine for loose coffee grounds.
I had the same problem...I was going to get rid of the unit...I notice that tha red light on the little screen on the top was on...then I closed the tray (all this time I though it was closed) all the way and the red light went off and the unit started cooling! I hope this may help you.
After I cleaned the tabs really well, I still had the same problem. So, I took the back off so I could get to the "switches" that close the feedback circuits for the "Trays Missing" and "Clean Trays" messages. Long story short, you DON'T need to take the back off. You can solve the problem if you remove the trays and carefully remove the right side metal tab. This will stop the false readings, at least it did for me. Save the tab if for some reason you need to it later.
To remove the right side tab, use something like an eye glass screwdriver or butter knife to pry it up and out of the two small holding tabs. Then rotate the metal tab up and away from the tray and it will fall right off. Pictures below.
