Why does all-in-one printer Canon MP495 keep showing up as 'offline' when all connections and cables are secure and PC can see printer?

Please remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer driver software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
If the printer shows a jamming error then check the input of the paper feed as there can be some foreign objects that is obstructing the detector opto-coupler or the detect switch. clean and check or the sensor is faulty.

Make sure that it's powered on. If it is, then it sounds like it's not on your network. Run the setup program and enter your wifi network information into it, so that it gets on your network. If you've already done that, try power cycling the printer. I have to do that with my HP wifi printer every once in a while. When it goes to sleep it drops the connection.

Once you have the correct drivers, try doing a factory reset on your printer while it is not connected to your computer. Once complete, try using the USB cable that came with your printer to connect it to your laptop and install the drivers.
There is the possibility that your printer, even after a factory reset, is trying to automatically use WiFi for its connection to your laptop. Assuming you're using DHCP and not static IP addresses, try giving your printer a static IP address, as it may be fighting with some other LAN device for a particular IP address.
If it turns out you do have the correct drivers and you are using WiFi for the laptop to printer connection, I would suspect something is wrong with the WiFi connection on your printer's side or in your router's configuration. Make sure you have the printer's MAC address in the appropriate table in your router's filtering configuration, if you're running MAC address filtering.

For Vista wireless setup: Open your Control Panel. Choose Printers. In the Printers box it lists your printers. Hover over the wireless printer icon, right click, choose Run as Administrator, then choose Use Printer online. This should change the status of the printer to Ready (from Offline). Be sure you've chosen this printer as your default printer. Might have to do this on a regular basis.

• Configure printer driver to correct port
• Set the default printer (Windows)

Is this printer set for the default? have you rebooted? (Sometimes my pc needs a reboot to find the wireless printer)
Have you checked your hardware profiles to see if there are any error messages in the hardware profile?
