I am running XP home and I can down load my videos to my PC but I can not play them. The "everio mediabrowser" locks up when I try and widows media player tells me there is some sort of error and it can not be played. I then downloaded it exactly the same way on my husbands PC and it all works perfectly. He is running Vista home. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall different things but it just does not work. I have down loaded some videos from my sgh480 phone onto my computer, im running xp pro , the problem is i cant play the video files through my computer...

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

I highly recommend for you to download the VLC media player from here :

VLC Player

It's compact, it's fast and plays any video formats known to the computing world - and it's a freeware. All you have to do is to click on "Download" to get the installation files.

After completing the download, you can now have it installed. Per usual practice, restart your computer after the installation.

Hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

I have windows xp home. everytime I play a video on a page it keeps starting and stopping so that you cant really know what they are saying. someone said to stop the play button and let the video load but...

If your playing a video from the Internet, then its playing faster than it can download (which is caused by a number of factors.. including Bandwidth, cpu, RAM graphics card etc.) so if you PAUSE the video and let the buffer fill up , it should work

My graphics card is fast at one point then slows down!

Make sure the driver for the notebook from the manufacturers website is installed, and not the video driver from Microsoft's Windows Update. After that, update Java, Adobe Flash and Adobe Shockwave. Finally, check for updates for DirectX (version 9.0C). Post back your results, please.

Age of empires 3 not loading

Age of Empires 3 requires a decent computer to run. If im correct in understanding what you are saying, you graphics card may not be up to date. This is what happend to me on several games. All i had to do was update my video card drivers and it worked.

The recommended requirements are:

- Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP
- 512 MB of RAM
- 2.0 Ghz CPU
- 128 MB 3D video card

- 1.5 GB of extra free hard disk space
- 32x CD-ROM drive
- DirectX 9.0c (important)
- DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
- 56 kbps Internet connection for online play

If you PC has all of the above or better, it should work perfectly.

If you do not have those requirments, download a 3D render that acts as a card for your computer, making your computer play games it orignally cant handly. I recommend "Swiftshader". Just type in google and go to there site, and download a demo. their are harldy any restictions on it apart from a splash logo in the side. when you extract, place the
"d3d8", and the "d3d9" files in the root (main folder) of the game. Then run!

This method is good if you have a good amount of ram (more then the game requirements)

HOPE IT HELPED!!!!!

Cant use web cam on aol

I am having issues using the Video Instant Messenger component of AOL AIM trnsp.gif Answer taken from http://aimtoday.aol.com/features/main_redesign.adp?fid=video_im

Why Am I Having Problems Getting Video IM to Work on My Computer?
You may need an upgraded Windows XP component to operate in conjunction with Video IM.
To use Video IM users may need an updated component of the Windows XP Operating System. Here’s how to upgrade for use with Video IM:
1.First, completely sign out of AIM and any other programs running on your computer.
2. Click here to download the file for use together with Video IM.
3. When the download is complete, click Open or Run the program from its current location.
4. Follow the instructions on screen to install.
5. When installation is complete the program will be loaded but invisible and running in the background.
6. Restart your computer and launch AIM to enjoy Video IM.

You’re behind a firewall built into most home networks or broadband routers …
Although you may not realize it, firewall software may be used by your Internet Service Provider, your company, your Windows XP operating system or even in the hardware in your home that connects you to the Internet. If you have a home network or broadband router, there is likely a firewall built into it.
If either you, or the person you want to Video IM with are behind a firewall and are having problems getting Video IM to operate, work with your Internet Service Provider, your company’s system administrator or modify your firewall software yourself to open ports 1024 through 5000.
Once these ports are opened, Video IM should work if no other issues exist.

It could be your router …
Routers are devices used by your Internet Service Provider, or installed in your home network, to distribute Internet connections. A wide variety of routers will work with Video IM. Below is a list of popular routers that work with Video IM in their default configuration.
ActionTec Geu404000-01
D-Link DI-704P
Linksys WRT54G
Linksys BEFSR41
Linksys BEFSX41
NetGear RP614
NetGear WGR614
Most other routers will also work, however, if yours does not, please report it here.
Also, be sure to follow the instructions above to install components to work with Video IM.
Remember, both you and the person you want to Video IM with may need to ensure your routers are not blocking Video IM.

Zd8000 - mobility radeon x600 problem.

Hi,
The ZD8000 is a very nice machine, but if there are no Vista drivers released for it, you're going to be very frustrated by it's performance.
It came loaded with XP right? If it was a factory Vista load, and drivers are missing, the recovery partition should be able to repair the installation. If there's no video driver, I don't know how it's playing the game at all.
In any case, if it came with XP, and you can find no drivers for Vista, your only choice seems to be to return to XP. It's not as visually stimulating, but much faster in general, especialy for this machine.
Hope this helps
Good luck
