I moved into a new home this week, and have a beautiful 6 burner Imperial gas range. I believe the model number is IR-6-C. Anyways, I don't know how to turn the darn thing on! We've used the burners by lighting them with a match but can't find the pilot to use the oven or start the burners automatically. Please help us locate the pilot light on this thing!
The oven pilot will need to be lit, On the bottom there is the oven safety valve, it has a red button on it, you must depress the button and hold it with the pilot lit for 60 seconds, when you release the button the pilot should stay lit and the oven will be ready for operation using the thermostat (knob). Please note: if the oven has set unused for some time you may need to hold the red button for a long time to bleed the air out of the lines. The pilots for the top burners are actually right beside each burner. You may need to turn these pilots on, they are controlled by small valves (small brass screws on the gas manifold where the gas valves and knobs are located, look between the knobs). These small screws/valves will open the gas flow to the pilots when turned counter clockwise. If you open these valves and the pilots still do not work, they will need to be replaced. Hope this helps
