If there is not a flaw in the product itself it could be a problem with assembly or that the locking bar is not locked in place properly. The juicer will not operate if the locking bar does not click in to place in to the grooves on both sides of the lid.

If you are unable to lock the locking bar in place it suggests that some other component has not been installed in the correct position. Review the assembly instructions to make sure all pieces are properly positioned.
Model #JM01C K: The motor works. The black start button works. The on-off Switch does not engage with the start button when moved up and down. Am I missing a part?
First, check that the switch is in the on position. Then, check that all parts are assembled properly. The unit has a built-in safety device that will not let the motor turn on if not assembled properly. The Power Juicer also has a built-in Thermal Cut Off Safety Switch. If the machine was running, then shut down due to accidental overheating, then there is a 10 minute cooling time before the machine will restart. This helps to protect the motor from seizing. Move from side to side and jiggle the whole assembly .. including the juice collector and juicing basket. With patience and even a break between attempts it will finally dislodge itself and lift up and off.
