Our fridge is nowhere near cold enough and we have water running down the back. There is ice on the base of the freezer as well.

Items in the top of the freezer are not freezing, just the ones at the bottom on top of the layer of ice.

The water is running down the inside back wall of the fridge. The freezer is currently running at around 5 degrees C and the fridge at 10 degrees C, even though it is turned right up.

Issue with Kenmore Refrigerator/Freezer

ok,1st check on fridge side toward upper back of the top and feel for air coming thru, and there is another one down possibly behind crisper .I had this same deal. Had to do total defrost,, put food in cooler,, theres two blower fans in these types of fridges,,one in the bottom back,, and one in the back of the frezzer,, I used an old hair dryer and let it blow warm to top interior of frezzer,, careful not to let any cords hang/drop in any water!!,ok once done dry out as much water as possible, turn fridge on set both controls to 4,when fridge kicks on do the feel test,, you may need to close the frezzer door, air should be felt near top inside of fridge,if so than shut fridge side and feel inside frezzer near bottom and air should be felt,, side-by-side need to circulate air from frezzer to fridge, then back to frezzer

The freezer works well but the fridgedoes not get cold enough

all the fridge does is blow cold air from the freezer down into the fridge section so if the freezer is working then either the evap fan isn't working or the air ducts are frozen up.first thing open the freezer door, you should hear the fan blowing,if not the fan motor could be bad,if it is blowing, touch the back inside wall of the freezer,is there any ice or like snow on it,if so you have a defrost problem, one more thing to check, open the fridge door, look under the bottom draws,is there any water there? or any water dripping into the fridge section from the freezer,if so you have a blocked drain and the air ducts are frozen.let me know what you find, send the model number off of the fridge, open the fridge door and look on the left side up near the ceiling, you should see a tag with the model and serial numbers just send the model

Kenmore fridge, 7 yrs old, freezer on top. Water sprays periodically from somewhere at top inside of refrigerator, apparently from downward pointing chute or holes on either side. This seems to be part of...

Removed inside rear and floor panels of freezer (ice machine also) as ably advised by your tech. Found ice damming he suspected underneath floor panel. Thawed overnight with pot of hot water in freezer. could see that small rear drain tube was iced shut; why all water going into fridge below. Avoided floor mess from thawing water flow to evaporation pan on floor by tilting unit forward on blocks and laying several old towels inside freezer door to catch water that would run out. Also placed some in front at base of unit on kitchen floor. Continuing to thaw pipe to unclog, it is iced some way down, again as tech said it might. Will reassemble and be careful with freezer setting, in case it may have been too cold. Also, some food crumbs had found their way behind panel near this drain tube and may have fallen in to block it. Will clean out any remaining.

Our freezer and fridge or not keeping cold enough

This can be caused by the drain hole below freezer coil being blocked by ice. You MUST remove all ice in drain under freezer coil. Use turkey baster to squirt hot water into hole and use hairdryer to defrost. Possible defrost thermostat is defective. Unit never goes into defrost, ice forms on coil and in floor or back of freezer. After defrosting may work OK for a week or two but gradually gets warmer because ice is blocking ports where cool air gets to refrig. May also have water in refrig box. Can also be caused by defective defrost timer.

Ice maker stopped working, plus fridge not cold, but freezer o.k.

I would check that fan motor in the freezer section is running. it distributes cold air from freezer into refrig section also if this motor is running the top portion of freezer will not get cold enough to allow ice production. the motor is easy to repl and is mod# specific you should be able to buy one online.

Freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.
