My Sony KF60XBR800 keeps shutting off while also triggering the surge prootector. What is causing this and is it do it yourself fixable?

My Sony KF60XBR800 keeps shutting off. At the same tine, it causes the surge protector to trigger and shut off the power. I have to manually turn back on the surge protector. The only other component that's on is my Directv receiver, which seems to be working fine. I've replaced the lamp once before but the symptoms were different. I don't think the lamp will cause the power to blow on all my components or am I wrong? has anyone seen this before?

It turns out the problem was the surge protector, not the TV. After the surge protector was unable to reset, I replaced it and no longer have a problem.

Surge protectors only work in one direction--from the power supply to the machine and are there to dampen a sudden over voltage surge in power supply-- lighting strike or power surge after grid failure or outage
I am thinking that the unit you keep switching on is an earth leakage unit or circuit breaker that is in the system to prevent electrical shocks from bad insulation or low performing components
if that is the case you have a potential short in the unit and should have the machine checked out at an appliance shop

My sony shake 55 keeps saying protect eos when powered on, why?

Hi the link below is Sony esupport and you should find your answer there,
. The 1st solution I copy and pasted here..
  1. If there has been an electrical surge or power outage, then the internal surge protection inside the home audio device may have been triggered to protect the device from the surge. This is normal. To reset the internal surge protection circuit unplug the AC power cord from the wall for at least 30 minutes.

Sony LCD turns off 34 flash turn on 30sec repeats ...

The self-diagnostic function of the projection television will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue, some of which you may be able to resolve without the need for service.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the television may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the television is well ventilated.
NOTE: If the television will not turn on immediately after being turned off, wait for the fan to finish its cycle, then attempt to turn it on again. This is part of the cooling process of some projection televisions and is normal operation.
If the flash sequence is not listed above, or the light continues to flash after troubleshooting the indicated issue, follow the steps below to perform a power reset on the television:

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.

If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

How do i fix my sony grand wega tv kf60xbr800 with 6 blinking lightshow do i fix my sony grand wega tv kf60xbr800 with 6 blinking lightshow do i fix my sony grand wega tv kf60xbr800 with 6 blinking...

Good day!!!

6 blinks its the clear indication that you have bad power supply board..

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

My tv's picture will come on for 10 seconds and shut off and will keep doing that repeatedly, any advice?

Lamp in your TV is almost dead. It should be replaced regularly every couple of years (depend on usage). Replace the lamp and everything should be OK.

Start then shuts off quick yellow then red again does not stay on long enough to get my game out

This is known as the Yellow Light of Death. It's very much like the problem with the 360 known as the Red Ring of Death. The problem is caused my excessive heat buildup inside. Most likely your system is clogged with dust. This acts like a blanket and keeps all of your heat inside, eventually melting connections on your motherboard. The good news is that it is fixable. I do not recommend attempting the repair yourself though. Without having done it before you are very likely to permanently damage the console. I have done several of these repairs myself and would be willing to do yours as well if you'd like. Contact me at [email protected] for info.
