Hot and Cold water very slow to fill, valves check out in diagnostic mode. Need a Fix-it guru! Thank you in advance!

I've read through the posts, cleaned the mesh/filters, entered diagnostic mode (no error codes), tested the values in diagnostic mode (both hot and cold work as expected (water pours into the washer), but when it washes/rinses the water comes in as a dribble (both hot and cold). Oddly enough, when you change the water temp from cold to cold/warm when the washer is filling, the water pours in like normal for a second and then goes back to a dribble. I would greatly appreciate any ideas or wisdom on this. Thank you in advance!!

Thank you, Ilia. The fill valve is not plugged up. In fact, when I turn on the cold and hot valves in diagnostic mode they work as expected. It is only while the washer is in operation that the water trickles in. Is it possible that the valves could be bad if they can work in diagnostic mode but not when the washer is actually washing? I welcome any thoughts.

I get a 3E error code or nf. My fill valves don't seem to be working properly. I get no water in my fabric softener cup. Fill is slow.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error NF means No Fill. The washer has tried to fill but was unsuccessful. NF indicates No Flow. There is something that is interrupting the inbound flow of water to the washer, either hot or cold. Sometimes this happens when water service in the area is interrupted, creating an air pocket that causing the water valve not to sense water.

Try running the diagnostic test by—
  • Press the delicates and heavy soil keys together for 3 seconds.
  • You are in the service mode.
  • Now, press wrinkle free key, cold water should start entering.
  • Then, press the cotton sturdy and hot water should flow.
  • To exit the test mode, either unplug the machine or press the delicate and heavy soil again for 3 seconds.
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

No/low water inlet. Diag mode both ht & cold lights flash

first test water valve ohms reading, this fault could be either control module or water valve.first open top panel to see valves. turn power off to unit. try putting the hot water valve wire to the cold and the cold to the hot. hopefully they will reach, sometimes they dont. then put panel back on with loose screws. turn power on , select low water ,and hot fill.push start button but make sure your hoses r connected and turned on. the reason i"m telling u how to do this is to eliminate the control board as being faulty if the cold water comes into unit then the problem is your computer, if no water comes in it is your water valve.i hope this helps if u still need help please reply

It's most likely the water inlet valve solenoids. Be sure to unplug the machine. They can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a bad solenoid. Also check the small metal screens inside the openings on the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Amana washer has no hot water - cold works fine

There is a solenoid control valve on all washing machines, located where the water hoses enter the machine. If you have a rubber mallet, you can whack the machine gently with the mallet. If the problem is resolved, it was just a stuck valve. If not, then you likely will need to replace the whole solenoid valve control. Typically there are controls for each water supply.
