Help! My cat walked on the right side of my keyboard, and the previews of my email messages are now narrow, with their text now located to the right of the email highlights.
My cat walked across the right hand side of the keyboard (I kept trying to push his paw off, but he kept stepping on it). My laptop has a full keyboard. Now my yahoo email highlights or previews are very narrow, located to the right of the list showing inbox, trash, spam folders etc., and the center of the page is a blank area with an outline of an envelope. When I click on the preview or highlight to read the email, the email text opens up in that blank area to the right of the highlights, with the highlights still being visible. What do I touch to get the email previews back to a normal width in a linear form, and to be able to click on an email and have the text take the place of the email highlights or previews as well as cover the entire width of the page (or almost entire width, not accounting for those annoying ads)? The text size has not been affected. I suspect my kitty stepped on two keys at once, but I have no idea which ones he was stepping on close to the right edge of the keyboard. Naturally, it's embarrassing to have a pet that is more computer literate than his human!
Thanks, Bill, you're terrific to take the time to help. Unfortunately, this still won't do the trick, can't get that arrow to attach to move the border across the page. I'm wondering if Yahoo has taken it upon themselves to change the format of their email page, although the email page looks normal on my other laptops. Thanks, Bill, you're terrific to take the time to help. Try moving the arrow over towards the edge slowly and see if it changes from a pointer to a double ended arrow
if it does the right click and hold down and move the column border right or left to get a change of column size.
do that for all borders
Testimonial: "Do you mean using the "mouse"? I use a wireless mouse, and I can form a double ended arrow when touching the edge of the division between email subjects and center of the screen, but dragging the arrow to the right-hand side of the screen while right clicking, & keeping the right side of the mouse depressed doesn't expand the subject lines. This thing wont budge!"
use the mouse to point the arrow until the double ended arrows appear . my mistake left click then and hold down and the double sided arrow will move the column border as you move the mouseuse the mouse to point the arrow until the double ended arrows appear . my mistake left click then and hold down and the double sided arrow will move the column border as you move the mouse
Thanks for your help, Bill. I was able to figure it out by going into Yahoo's settings. A complicated (for me) solution, but it's fixed. Create Menu tab right click
in the top of screen (toolbar) you will see a number of toolbar options select
the menu bar
This will add to your
screen toolbar File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help
select the View from the drop down list will be a Zoom with percentages % and
text sizes largest to smallest and Full screen option Increase the Font Size in Email
Email font size is easily controlled while composing
messages, but the messages you receive have been sized by the sender.
Some contacts may be perfectly comfortable writing in size
8, but such text can be a strain on the eyes, even with good reading glasses.
The printed hard copies of email messages with small text
are even more difficult to read.
There are a few ways to quickly change font size for ease of
reading and better quality print-outs.
Open an email message with particularly small text. Increase the email font
size of the text using step 2, 3 or 4.
Click on the "View" selection from the menu bar.
Roll the mouse pointer over the "Zoom" choice.
Click on one of the choices that is greater than 100
percent.
Click "View" and cover "Zoom" to make a
larger choice if the first choice does not increase the text size sufficiently.
Click the "View" option on the menu bar. Roll
the cursor over the "Text Size" selection.
Choose one of the options that will increase the text size.
For instance, if the current size marked with the dot is
"Medium," then click "Larger" or "Largest" to
make the print appear bigger.
Use a mouse with a wheel to increase the email font size.
Press and hold the "Ctrl" key while rolling the
wheel on the mouse.
The text will shrink as you roll in one direction, and grow
bigger as you roll in the other.
Change font size before printing.
Click the "File" option on the menu bar.
Click "Print Preview."
Click the "Size" drop down which may display
"100%," or "Shrink to fit."
Select a choice greater than 100 percent to increase text
size.
Click the "Print" button to view the
results on a hard copy.

Thank you for using Fixya
These are general things you should consider in a checklist fashion when trying to troubleshoot problems printing documents from certain applications. I have no specific information for your specific printer and the behavior you are observing.
Things to check to ensure proper printing:
1) Make sure that you have installed the LATEST driver software for your printer (you can get drivers online from the HP web site. Make sure it is working properly by printing a test page, if you have not done so yet.
2) Does your email software have a print preview? Make sure that the printer selected in your email software is the HP printer, then do the preview. How does it look? If you see your problem in the preview, then you need to do something in the software. Set the printing to be in default font style and size, as well as page margins.
3) When you print, does your printer report an error message that could indicate why it printed it only on the part of the text, and why it was cut-off on the right side. Check page orientation (portrait vs. landscape). In Windows systems, the print dialog windows also contain options for adjusting the page content to fit the page (auto-zooms, etc). Look at these options carefully.
If you have additional information to add after going through these checks, then do it.
Absolutely yes! There is a way to do that...i know it's disgusting sometimes to see your previous messages and feels awkward right?!
So here's what you have to do:
-After clicking the Reply button, a text will appear where u will write your reply in and automatically the message that you are going to send a reply is also there. But because you don't want it there,so just click inside the text box where your text will be written.
-Press and hold Ctrl + A for select all (in your keyboard,if the text is already highlighted, let go of the Ctrl and A keys)
Or Highlight all the text or messages(s) inside the Text box.
-And press Delete or Backspace in your keyboard.
That's it, all unwanted text and messages is deleted and you can write and send your messages now without those.
Note: You have to do it everytime you reply because that's the settings of the mail provider that we users are not allowed to change!
ENJOY AND GOODLUCK!
By the way, please this solution according to its use, specially if it works or solved your problem(s),
