My Onkyo TX-8522 is stuck on standby. I read the manual and tried all the solutions suggested in the manual. Is there a way I can reset the system without sending it in to the manufacuture?
Mine is stuck on stand-by, however it will Turn on with the remote.

I also have the standby problem, and even when using the remote. There are no plugs into the back of the receiver.I also have the standby problem, and even when using the remote. There are no plugs into the back of the receiver.

This is Not a real Fix, However it stops the problem!
Do not plug any power cords into the Receiver. I have found that using the "switched or unswitched" plugs in the back cause the trouble.

The 0-83 error indicates a problem with the firmware update.
Try resetting the receiver's BIOS by following these steps2:
Unplug all cables
Un-Power the receiver
Power the receiver
Before the receiver gets into the "Enter for updating" message, press Tone + CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will show you either the volume numbers or get you into settings of the receiver's speaker configuration.
Press CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will clear the BIOS and show a "Clear" message on the display. Wait until you hear a couple of clicking sounds for the receiver to turn on and off the power.
Hello
I Would suggest to try this, pull out the power cable from the wall socket, and while holding down CBL/SAT, press ON/STANDBY. and plug in the power cable again.
hope this will work.
Since it does not have a dedicated subwoofer pre-out, you would have to use the "TAPE" outputs. If your powered sub (I'm assuming your using a powered sub) has only one input, you could either just use the left tape out of the receiver, or use an rca splitter to convert the left and right to a single jack. (I'm not a fan of that method, though).
Yes it is possible. Any audio device with an earphone out jack can be connected to a receiver by using the CD input or the AUX input jacks (white and red) on the receiver. All you need is an adapter cable with the stereo 3.5mm plug on the iPhone side and the 2 RCA connectors on the receiver side. You can get these for $2 or so at Amazon.com or at Radio Shack. Adjust the volume and select on the receiver, the input you used to connect and enjoy. http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-3-5mm-Stereo-Male-Cable/dp/B000V0G2C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306765483&sr=8-1
Hello. Check all of the buttons on your unit to make sure that they are not stuck...you can feel the click they make as you push it then they pop back out as your finger pulls off. Any stuck button will lock up your microprocessor and keep the unit from turning on. All other problems will require a consumer electronics technician to trouble-shoot the turn on circuit. If you know how to use a meter and know how to solder\unsolder and require further assistance you can contact me. Good luck.
it may be muting due to a fluctuation signal. Do you have an appropriate aerial connected to the FM tuner?. a length of speaker wire pulled apart into a t shap for about 1m will do. Get a splitter and use you television antenne coscket to provide better signal for your tuner
