No heat coming from dryer

Make sure the dryer heats up and that the proper cycle is selected. If the dryer doesn't heat, the cause will need to be determined. This can be an ignitor issue, the timer, or a gas supply problem.

If it's heating, check the vent line from the dryer to the outside of the dwelling for lint clogging. Also check the diverter (flapper valve) at the dryer vent outlet to be sure it opens all the way and that the air stream is pretty strong. Lint clogging is one of the most the most common causes of dryers not drying very well or taking an extended drying time period.

If the vent line is longer than 20 feet and has multiple bends, backpressure in the line can cause additional clogging.

Off hand I would think that you are not getting either the proper amount of heat (or no heat) or you have plenty of heat and insufficient airflow to release all of the moisture outside.

Both of the above possibilities are connected to airflow. Most dryers when the air ducts are restricted will burn out their thermal fuse, thus you don't have any more heat to dry your cloths.

Check your dryer venting outside when it is running, see if you are getting a healthy amount of air coming out, it should also be a good deal warm if it has been running for a while on high heat.

If it is warm and not much air, stop your dryer immediately so you do not burn out your high temperature limit fuse. Then disconnect the dryer hose from your dryer, start the dryer again (no heat setting) see how much air is coming out. If it is significantly more, you'll need to clean out your dryer venting in the house, if still low, the dryer itself is plugging up and needs to be cleaned from the lint trap to the blower wheel. (90% or more of the time they do not plug up after the blower motor to the back of the dryer.)

Usually when there is a strong heat (burn) smell from the heat element, it is telling you that there is poor air flow. This has nothing to do with the model. It is a blocked or restricted vent line, or an internal blower wheel malfunction or a lint blockage further in the machine that is restricting the air flow. WHEN AIR MOVES CORRECTLY, THE ELEMENT HEATS NORMALLY AND DOES NOT GIVE ANY OVERHEAT ODER.

Sounds like your thermistor/thermostats could be your problem.
They control the heat coming from the heating coil.
Unplug the dryer.
If you remove the back of the dryer, look for the air tube coming from the blower to the drum, normally inside the air tube you will find the heating coil and the thermistor/thermostats. Replace as needed.

Is this dryer Electric or Gas?

We should address the heat problem first. If your dryer complaint is "heat seems low" or taking "too long to heat", this is commonly confused for other problems. When in fact, you may really have a "ventillation problem". Do you feel (with hand) alot of hot air pressure coming out the back of the dryer or house vent-line (for dryer)?

I would disconnect and clean the dryer exhaust vent/duct (at wall and machine). Then, while leaving the vent-line disconnected temporaily, test and run your dryer. You may see an signficant improvement.

Does it heat up better?
Do you feel alot of hot air and pressure coming out the back of the dryer?
When connected; do you feel alot of hot air pressure coming out of your house dryer vent?

Don't think so. My issue with the no hot air on the dryer was the relay switch. There is also a heat switch and thermostat that could be a problem.
