I have a Mitsubishi WD-73737 73-Inch, the picture format keeps changing automatically. for example, the format will be set at 720i wide and it switches back and forth to 720i normal. any ideas?

I've seen that happen on equipment that has automatic signal detection. Usually this option is available when connecting the equipment with an hdmi cable. The setting can either be on the television or the cable/sat box or both. You have to disable the automatic signal detection signal on both the television (if the television has one in the setup hdmi menu if there is one) and on the cable/sat box. Further you have to choose a resolution on the cable/sat box normally 1080i or 720p fixed. Disable the 4:3 override if there is one. Save and lock in the settings and you should be all set.
