IF YOU HAVE NOT ALTERED THE ADMIN PASSWORD FOR THE ROUTER THEN SIMPLY CONNECT AN ETHERNET CABLE TO IT FROM YOUR COMPUTER. CLICK ON THE INTERNET ICON AND TYPE 192.168.1.1 INTO THE ADDRESS BAR. ROUTER NAME AND PASSWORD SHOULD BE ADMIN. aFTER YOU HAVE ENTERED THESE YOU SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO THE CONTROL SYSTEM SOFTWARE OF YOUR ROUTER. gO TO THE WIRELESS NETWORKING SECTION AND NOTE THE PASSWORD...Note the password and then disconnect the cable. Simply attempt to reconnect and then attempt to enter the password as it is shown in the router,
One Push Setup, press wps (or ops) button on router and the button on the device you wish to to connect (assuming device has that feature) and it should set itself up.
It sounds like your internet provider/router isn't giving you a whole lot of bandwidth to work with. That simply means your internet isn't giving you enough space to actually play call of duty. Your zombie game is probably playing alright because only four people need to connect to each other. That doesn't require a lot of space and memory of internet to do. However multiplayer demands a lot more bandwidth from your router. That might be why you aren't connecting. This could be for a number of reasons.
Other people in your household are using the internet too, be it laptops, smart phones, printers, other gaming counsels, etc. Simply turn off these devices to receive more bandwidth for your xbox.
Your router is a little too older for video games. If you are using a wireless router for your xbox, try plugging it directly to the wall or router.
While the issue could lie with the servers that host the Black Ops gaming network, there is a small possibility that your home router may be blocking some of the network traffic you need in order to connect properly. I would recommend putting your PS3 into a "DMZ" on your home router. This will allow all internet traffic to get to the PS3. If you do not know how to do that, you can refer to the user manual for your router/modem (or google it)
You can try to change the channel on your router to either 1 or 11. How you do this depends on your router model. Also make sure your network settings are correct on the Wii by running a test or trying to connect to the Wii Shop channel. If these work Call of Duty should work as well.
When you do a connection test on your PS3, what NAT type shows up; 1, 2,
or 3. If you're worried about the STRICT NAT type in Black Ops, don't
worry about it, the problem is the game and not your router.
if you are talking about the problematic black ops i heard deleting unnecessary friends helps because black ops tries to keep so much info about every person that it has trouble with connection (sorry i can't quote the site i heard this from off the top of my head but it seemed reliable enough)
Well the servers on black ops arent that good so if now the problem is still happening it has to be your internet so order a new router and it should work.
