I can't seem to wind a bobbin. I've done everything in the manual but it just seizes up- doesn't spin.

You placed the bobin upside down

one side is flat the other is keyed

so place the keyed side down
usual fault with winders

bobins are easy... read again the manual slowly

My bobbins are the same on both sides. I was able to wind bobbins before but it isn't working now. I have followed the instructions in the manual exactly.

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

    right ok

your trying to wind a spool case

the bobbin is what carries the thread above

    the spoolcase below

    i see
this is a far different issue

    is this the case

    ??

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

if this is not the case and you can wind say a big bobbin of thread to a smaller one for use then i think if it jamms up and doesnt spin

    then some gear is slipping
and perhaps some plastic part has cracked

so its off to the service guy

    observe warrenty and guarantee
    make use if any...

    its the best advice

here is a nice girl i found that shows you how to get it too work here you tube is handy and perhaps a small email to her will make you a pal and a great contact

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

ok looking at your machine i see its the winding for the thread spool onto the spoolcase real thats the issue i think just buy another spool case first

its a complex three part real
one tiny dint in its case
and perhaps one layer stops moving

so replace the spool case and try again
all three parts must lock to wind on

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

please clarify for me you can wind a spoolcase from a bobbin but say a big bobbin to user bobbin wont wind is this right im looking at the model details

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

    http://www.singerco.com/sewing-resources...

ok so reading here i see
does the needle still move when you
Push in indent (illustration 1) on hand wheel disc. This will stop the needle from moving.

if it moves this isnt good
when the needle doesnt move this spindle should spin
    if the needle stops moving and the spindle doesnt spin {take the bobbin off and engage to view}
then there is a selector fault and it needs a mechanic
a gear or selector is gone usualy a cracked gear or selector arm or throw from the indent
    some plastic part mostly

check your warrenty isnt still good

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

with the bobbins mounted and laced now i remember press in indent then rotate the handwheel till it locks then slowly apply foot bar power till it holds and starts to turn and lock up then you can wind faster now as i say if the needle moves or the bobbin spool doesnt then there is some gear issue
so service can be the only way...

  • Anonymous Jun 05, 2015

if this method works you need a new ident button or moreover its plastic holding parts as whats happening is your locking it but its getting loose before you can apply power
so a simple worn peg.. phone singer service if you find you can lock it to spool as above with power so replacing the plastic peg for indent i think maybe the only thing needed and a wee oil and clean so defo i would take it to a service guy...

Bobbin winder is engaged and shows up on screen correctly, but sewing mode is still engaged and bobbin winding keeps stopping.

check the drive knob on the end of the machine
it should be loose when winding a bobbin
if it is tight or seized then that will drive the needle

Bobbin won't wind on Singer futura CE-100

My singer hasn't wound bobbins for years and I don't care because I use a Side Winder bobbin winder. It's much easier than takining the thread off the machine anyway. Available from Hancock, Jo Ann or even Wal Mart for about $30.

Singer 6268 bobbin winding

I've never seen this type of winding system. But from the manual on page 10, it shows that in order to disengage the machine from sewing mode.. you need to have the bobbin cover slide plate slightly open.

http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1272_6268-_-6268_6267-wholeas-of-6_23_05-special.pdf

Also make sure that your bobbin doesn't have any burrs. If it does, toss it and use a new one.

Loose boobin winding

You need to ensure that the thread is going from the thread spool at the back of the machine, through the eyelet, then around the silver tension disc on top of the machine, then to the bobbin when you are winding it. Also, pull the thread tail up through the hole in your bobbin to start and hold the tail so the thread starts to fill smoothly and doesn't loosen.

I've marked the disc in red on this image

Please read my Tip on bobbin winding; its really important to get a good wind and you can add more tension yourself by applying gentle pressure to your thread spool on the back pin as you wind off it.
Link is http://www.fixya.com/support/r10598580-winding_bobbin_correctly

The stopping when full is possibly because your bobbin is winding unevenly but I never run it until it stops itself anyway, and do the winding at 3/4 speed, not flat out. You want a really smoothly tensioned even wind onto the bobbin so your thread comes off the bobbin when stitching with even tension, not stretched, then loose.

Hope this helps you with your problem.

When I go to fill my bobbin spool, the machine just beeps at me. I've tried everything. Please help!

If you try to wind the bobbin with the embroidery unit on, you need to send a design to the machine before trying to wind the bobbin. If the embroidery unit is off, you should wind the bobbins without any problems

I have a singer touch tronic sewing machine. I need to fill the bobbin and I cannot get it to work. where can I buy more bobbins that have already been filled to fit my machine

Has the bobbin winder worked in the past and now faulting. Or are you unsure on how to use it?

There is a manual for a Touchtronic 2000 here http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/432_touchtronic.pdf there may be more than one model Touch Tronic so plse check the serial number plate on the side of your machine to establish the actual model number, usually near the power inlet plug. then search for the appropriate manual at http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals. This excerpt shows that you wind the bobbin insitu in the bobbin case.

I'm not a fan of prewound bobbins, far better to deal with the bobbin winder issue. Winding your own thread means you can get far better colour matching to the fabric, and ensure you've got quality thread on the machine, and same thread top and bottom. (I prefer a quality cotton wrapped polyester or a polyester thread, Guttermann, Molynecke or Sylko Supreme). All of these factors affect stitching quality and the finished appearance of a seam.

Did you know that you can buy a freestanding unit to wind bobbins? Link to this item is here. http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/universal-automatic-bobbin-winder.aspx You may well find that this is the better solution to winding bobbins for this machine as winding them inside the bobbin housing doesn't give you a lot of control over the way the thread feeds onto the bobbin.

Pfaff Model 1222. The drive belt seizes up and

Try lowering the presser foot lever one click down (needle down presser foot up position). You maybe in the bobbin winding mode that is why it is locked up for your safety, you don't want to puncture any body part while winding the bobbin. It locks up the needle and the balance wheel while it allows the winder to spin.
