Top oven will not heat up

The bottom oven works fine. The control panel for the top oven is functioning but the oven will not heat up. Neither the bottom element or top element will function.

I have the same problem. GE repair wants to charge $89 to come out and look at the unit with no guarantee or refund if they can't fix it. Curious if anyone else has dealt with this issue.

I also have the same problem. Did either of you fix your problem yet and if so what was the sollution.

    Hi there

The element at the top of the oven is no longer working making the oven function and grill function redundant.

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.

JKP55 The top oven would not heat. Got it fixed for $261.00 with tax. The bake element in the upper oven was bad. My oven unit is 14 years old.

We have a JKP55 and the top works but not the bottom.

We have had several GE appliances fail -- we are not buying GE again.

Sorry no solution -- we are still looking.

Check with a continuity tester, probably the element is busted or the electrical wirings is cut off

The top oven works fine. All functions on bottom oven are OK but will not heat

Break the problem up. Start at the elements. Do they get power? If not work your way back to the output of the control. Is there power there? If not replace the control. Otherwise check all wiring

Are the top and bottom heating elements both supposed to heat? Only the bottom one is heating except when specifically set on "broil".

Most ovens with top and bottom elements have a multifunction control switch which enables the user to select a certain setting to suit their cooking. The control switch would normally have small pictures of the elements, fan forced function etc, to show what each setting does. Sometimes you may only require the bottom element working and other times you may want/need both.

I'm afraid I don't know how to help you get a new control panel (part #WB36K5065 is no longer available). But we have the same oven and a similar problem. Our control panel works just fine, but the face is melted from a recent mishap (small fire in the upper oven while broiling), so the plastic face of the control panel looks awful and needs replacing. If you decide to replace your oven and would like to sell the front face to your control panel we'd love to purchase from you.

Thermador SC301T heating elements not working (top and bottom). elements look fine, oven turns on but elements stay cold.... any help would be appreciated. thanks, Tony

Its the thermal safety switch. When it trips - it cuts any power from reaching BOTH elements. Open the oven door - at the top wehere the oven latch is - remove the long black panel. In the middle - on the right is a small cylindrical switch...push down on the top - in the very center...it will rest the switch (like a circuit breaker) and then reassemble. Just did it on mine (2nd time) and it fired right up. Good luck

Top oven doesn't heat.

We had this same problem in our lower oven and found the solution the night before Thanksgiving. With 26 people coming for dinner, I desperately need both ovens. (Turn off the breaker for the oven before you do this.)

My husband took the control panel off of the upper oven and found a wiring diagram. In the text, it said there was a manual reset for each oven in the access panel for each one. He opened the access panel for the lower oven and found the reset button in the middle of that area. He said it was a black circle with a red button in the middle. After reseting, we turned the breaker back on and everything works great!!
